When I upgraded my system, MacOS overwrote my iTunes with 11.04 which for me is a big step back in ease of use.

Is there anywhere an option to download an older iTunes (10.x) somewhere and overwrite this nasty new one under 10.8.4?

Any help would be welcome.

There is no way to regress a version of an Apple product.

But if your dismay with the new version has to do with its appearance, you can make iTunes 11 look more like iTunes 10 by doing View > Show Sidebar from iTunes' menu.

There is no supported way but there are a number of threads detailing how to do it.  I've done it on Lion and iTunes 10 worked fine.  Anyway, here is one long thread about this subject:

Personally, I'd look at the latter comments to see the latest take on how to do this safely.  Oh, and make sure you have a current Time Machine or other, full system backup in case something goes wrong.
