If you are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare, call them. Let them deal w/it.

Yes there are many report of this happening with the iPhone 5. Take your Mac your phone and all cables into an Apple store and show them what happened. Try your phone with the supplied cable on some of their floor display Mac computer and see if the same thing happens.
