What happens if you shut down the MBP, wait a few minutes, and then try either the iPhone or iPad. Can that device now get an Internet connection?
Can you please provide the make and model number of your modem?

Airport Express Base Station Model MC414LL/A A1392
I've tried other things to troubleshoot the issue so here's some additional input. I've attempted to reset the Airport device by holding down the reset button while I unplugged the unit and plugged it back in. As the Airport powered back up, the iphone automatically got connected. I've attempted to connect the ipad by entering the SSID and pwd on the ipad and had the same issue - connection times out.
Tried to reset the Airport again and this time, the ipad connected automatically but the iphone didn't. So I tried to power down all the idevices and my MBP to see if it will reconnect to the modem in its newly reset state. The MBP connected instantly, and the idevices did not. Tried again while the MBP is shut down, with same result - idevices time out when trying to connect.
I'm now using the Airport to connect to another wireless router's signal (Netgear) so I can use Airplay. The idevices do not have any issues connecting to the Netgear signal.
Anyone encounter this issue?
