Q: Superdrive does not mount formatted DVD-R with archived files.

1. Formatted DVD-R with disc utility for read/write.

2. Dragged and dropped files onto icon.

3. Checked to see files were on DVD-R and could open them.

4. Inserted DVD-R two days later and Superdrive does not mount for read/write.

Do I need a special app to do this?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)

Another help source (if you haven't already done so).

Go to your OS Help Menu.  In the search field type dvd

Click on all the troubleshooting topics & Support Articles that pertain to  your issue.

You can also do the same in Disk Utility.  Open same up.

At the bottom left of the window, click on the purple button w/the "?" in the middle.

This will bring up the Help Menu.
