Q: Powerbook not recognizing iPod Nano. Dialogs: IPod may be corrupted; Restore factory settings "Failed could not be read from or written to" Now not visible. Tried unplugging # times & restarting. ITunes updated 11.0.4. HELP!

Thank you Jeremy, I clicked your links and troubleshot all of these but nothing worked. The iPod is completely black & unresponsive. I've had it sitting in my dock to recharge in case that was the problem but still nothing.

It's strange because I had received a dialog "Your iPod has been restored to factory settings and is restarting etc ..." I believe that was when it went black.

I have a Powerbook, 10.7.5. My Nano is I think the original 1st generation Model A1137 4G. Software version 1.3.1 (I only know that because I did screen captures as I was having the prob).

I'm simply lost without my iPod.

Thank you, really appreciate your help. I just tried that but still no response. It is old but when I'm not using it, it always sits in the dock so it is constantly charged & prior to this battery was lasting at least a couple of hours outside of the dock.

BTW I mispoke, I have a MacBook Pro 3.1 / Intel Core 2 Duo, (Not Powerbook - I guess the problem hadme harkening back to my really old laptop).

Hi Chris, I tried this again and realize I was pressing the Pause + Center Select buttons versus the Menu + Center. This time it worked like a dream. THANK YOU, so appreciate your help.
