Q: iPhone SMS/iMessage search doesn't take me to specific message

The iOS text message search feature needs to be fixed. I can type part of a previously sent message in the iMessage app's search bar and see the actual message as an option to tap on. However once I tap it, I am taken back to the latest message in conversation view, NOT message I searched for. The same goes for searching via spotlight, nothing. I want to be directed to the actual message I am searching for (the actual position in the conversation where the message is located). Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution? Let me know.

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1

I have the same issue as everyone else.  I used to be able to search for any word or phrase in my text messages via Spotlight and now I cannot.  This was an essential use of my iphone and needs to be fixed.  Apple wants to charge me $20 just to speak with them on phone and its insulting, I just need this to work.  Any ideas?

I've had the same problem. It worked when I hit the little arrow on the right or held it down until it highlighted. It only worked some of the time. other times it left me at the most recent message, but if it doesn't work close the app and try again

APPLE THIS REALLY PEEVES ME! I have all your products but bugs like this will definitely make me switch...

I have learned to stomach defective home buttons in all my previous iPhones..."ALL," poor battery life, defective Mac screens and optical drives that break faster than the cheapest windows laptops but this I cannot.... For posters who show the different ways to search text messages pls note that the issue is NOT mental incapacity on how to use our phones but thanks.

And in case anyone is wondering, I'm a legitimate consumer and not paid by Samsung.

You might be interested in knowing then that Apple does not participate in these forums. This is a user to user technical support forum. So, ranting to Apple here is like throwing water into the wind, it is just going to come back into your face and not accomplish anything except make you look wet.

I too, have this issue and have yet to find any solution. No one seems to know what search functions (either in Spotlight or within Messages app) can't ACTUALLY SEARCH. Absolutely unacceptable.

I wasn't responding to you and provided information to the poster I responded to. They were not asking a question anyway. This will be the only response to you as well.

Im still expeienceing the same issue even after 7.03 update. Text messages have become as important as email. To be able to properly search previouse messages would be very helpful to many.  Even spotlight for mac isnt as reliable...

perhaps the reason people think this is unacceptable is we have relied on search for many of our desktop, interenet and even intranet activities.  Search indexing is a technology that has been available for more than a decade so there is really no reason for apple not to be able to offer a feature that was previously available.

Im on my fourth iphone and 4th mac.  Data on these devices will just keep on accumulatiing.  Unless we can search all that stored data properly this problem will only get worse before it gets better.
