I have an IPad 4 that I use with an app for flying.

It appears that the Ipad does not charge via a car charger that plugs into the plane (just like a car).

The app is running tracking the plane but eating up my power.

How does charging work on the ipad?  If the app is active the ipad knows it is plugged in but not charging,,,what to confirm I did not get a compromised ipad since this is brand new bought specifically for this app.

Thanks for any info.

The iPad charging depends on the charging source being at the correct voltage and amperage.  Does your iPad charge in an automobile using the charging system you have?  If so, then check to see what the voltage and current supplied by the airplane outlet are.  The iPad wants to see 10-12 watts.  If it does not charge on the automobile outlet either, then you might have a faulty charger/cable.
