Android has major security issues and is "open" in all the wrong ways.
iOS uses sandboxing for all apps. 3rd party apps don't have access to private iPhone APIs, and you must approve access to your photos for example with a 3rd party app and the same with location services.

Thank you, I was reasonably sure that iOS would not allow access to the phone for any reason. Everything else is also very clear what it wants to use, contacts and photos (and I have no issue allowing access to those, for sharing and what have you)
