how do i transfer my songs from old ipod to new itunes with songs already in it? will syncing lose any songs?

i have found my old ipod with songs in it and would like to add it to my current itunes library on new computer. old ipod was synced with my itunes from an old computer that broke and never backed up. im afraid to sync the 2  for losing any songs from either device and itunes. is it possible to add the songs from the ipod and adding it to new itunes with songs already in library? thanks all

    You can't transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchase by you from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.


    Once the songs files are on your computer, you can add them to your iTunes library.


    NOTE:  Any songs previously purchased from the iTunes Store can also be re-downloaded at no cost, from the iTunes Store Purchased screen.
