Jun 16, 2013 1:59 AM in response to Dsjjhahsby Alley_Cat,This is likely to be due to your average internet speed being low.
iTunes movies are fixed size files unlike Netflix which adhusts the stream with poorer quality for slower connection speeds.
Test you internet speed on a computer using speedtst.net or similar.
To watch near instantly you need:
SD - 2.5Mbps
720p - 6 Mbps
1080p - 8 Mbps

Jul 30, 2013 11:48 PM in response to talsalmanby Alley_Cat,Is that what your ISP says you should be getting or what you get running speedtest.net or similar on a computer?
Check your ISP doesn't throttle/limit speed after using x amount od bandwidth per month - some do and slow things down dramatically once you hit your quota.
If you are getting 40 Mbps internet speed that should be more than adequate but it does not necessarily mean your LAN is handling that if on wifi but unless the LAN is only giving a few Mbps that could be the issue despite the 40 Mbps figure.
Sometimes Apple's store can be erratic with downloads eg yesterday I downloaded several old purchases again and they came down at expected speed, whereas a new movie purchase was very erratic in download speed.
There have also been reports that people using Google DNS servers are afffected by slow downloads.
