This post covers the immediate "it's different" issue.
If you choose not to sync a particular type of content you can manually add it instead. At some point it became possible to manually add any content in addition to the stuff that is synced via playlists, albums, artists, or genres, so you you could try manually drag & dropping the books you want before tweaking that option. (Don't have time to definitively test that it works, but it's worth a shot).
You haven't said what device you have, but iTunes is particularly picky with iPhones and even when manually managed this can only be done with a single library. Again I haven't tested definitively, but I understand that you may be able to manage one media type from one library, and another from another.
Lost & Found Playlists
Create a playlist called Found, select everything in Music and drag it into the Found playlist. Create a smart playlist called Lost matching All the rules Playlist is Music and Playlist is not Found. Your lost tracks will be in this playlist. You can delete them all with a Ctrl-A to select them and Shift-Delete to remove them. (Use Cmd-A & Option-Delete on a Mac).
Instead of deleteing the dead links Windows users might be able to use my FindTracks script to repair the links, assuming the files are still somewhere to be found.
I've another Windows script called CleanDeadApps which is designed to clear files in the Mobile Applications folder that aren't connected to iTunes. The way I manage & backup my library occasionally means I end up with both the current & previous versions of an app in the folder and identifying the redundant files by eye was getting to be dull. I don't have the reverse problem but I could look at tweaking the code to delete apps in iTunes that aren't connected to a file.
Diffrent is one thing, how iTunes 11 works is a totally diffrent thing.
Is that the solution that we should add content manually?
Why Apple cant realise that its something wrong with iTunes and fix it instead of just say its we, the user to have to use iTunes in another way. Apples has started a new strategy and blame their users.
Just read this tread and you se something is wrong with iTunes, NOT the users.
Diffrent is one thing, how iTunes 11 works is a totally diffrent thing.
How it works is exactly the same way as it has with all other versions.
It's a bit different in how the user does things but the differences can be minimized by reading the other posts in this thread.
Then it'll look and you can use it almost the same as previous versions.
Absolutely correct. No one should need to troll through a forum to figure out how to use an app. Especially an app that had worked successfully for many years. This new iTunes 11 is just ridiculous. I have not adopted it yet and I don't see myself adopting it any time soon. Maybe if they fix it I'll give it another go.
Multiple windows for playlist editing. That's a big music management feature. One I'm not willing to live without. Therefore I stay with 9.x and 10.x.
I also don't have time to go scanning through 1,000+ messages to find the necessary tricks and modifications. That's just comical in this day and age. Or is it? If the dev team had left well enough alone things would be kosher.
i cant stand itunes. i mean, for god sake, you cant even put your own ringtone on an iphone without having to boot up a laptop, find your itunes account and go through that. COMPLETE JOKE!!!
On a more general topic (wait for the apple pimp brigade to jump in!!!) I think apple will lose an even bigger share of the market. the iphone lags well behind competitors. the cloud service is a COMPLETE JOKE. the app store has bloated with too many similar apps.
i look forward to december, when my contract ends, and i can get a samsung galaxy 4 or similar. just the thought of a superior screen size and prospect of being able to add or remove up to 64GB of data with ease and speed makes me think a brand is only as good as its last product.
As Gareth Bales agent said "why choose Spurs when you can have Madrid!?"
I parked my iPhone 4S
And buyed a Samsung instead. As you say Honeycroft, manage iTunes, Appstore and syncing with an iPhone is to much problem for a non Rocket Sience.
One of the main reason i switch to Samsung was that with all my gadgets, speakers +++ i brought for my iPhone4 with the old charging cable i cant use any of them in a new iPhone5.
I will no more support a company that treat their customer like Apple is doing now.
Hey guess what, you don't need to connect to iTunes to sync. You can do that over wi-fi. Also, if you want a tone, you can buy one right from your phone in the tone store. ** It's not opening a laptop and finding your iTunes "account", it's opening the "library". Big difference. I suppose that's what the issue is. If you don't know what your'e talking about I guess it's kind of hard to figure out the simple tasks.
Help menu? Top right....
My buddy has burned through 3 samsung Galaxy notes in under a year and has moved to BlackBerry, while I've had my iPhone 4 since the day they were released and no issues. Never lost my library, never crashed iTunes, never been upset that I had to actually be a human and do things for myself instead of waiting for the phone and iTunes to magically make everything work based on The Force.
I am not biased. I have a PC and a Mac; I adapted to the new iTunes because that's what people do. Could you imagine if we were all still using Corel Show for presentations? It's called "evolution" and that's what the new iTunes is all about.
Why don't we all go back to horse and carriage too because it's easier to fix a horse than it is to figure out how to re-build an engine.
This really isn't the place to complain about what you don't like about the new version. This is a place to get help for issues. If you want to complain there is a nice link to the feedback page that anyone can find, if they don't ind doing something for themselves and clicking around on this site. I suppose no one is up for that so here ya go:
** If enough people complain to the right place, then they will change it-- that's how they adapt the application. They ask users to speak up about what they want. MOST wanted the changes you guys are all sobbing about. It's a democracy to an extent.....
Lastly, I switched from a BB to an iPhone and will never look back. Read your manuals and learn how to use your toys people OR click to feedback and get on with it.
Having album art displyed while you play tunes. If you want to browse the library like cover folw, you can click to change your view. Close becasue yo can see the album covers.
What application are you using to display album art and browsing the library like CoverFlow?
You never gave the name of this application or how to do it.
Can't sync over wifi as don't have enough. I paid for 15GB but between iPhone and iPad it exceeds that. Plays it always crashes and doesn't copy everything anyway.
Pay for a ringtone? Next you're be saying to get an album or song ill need to go to iTunes Store and purchase it. Never!!!!
Yes I meant library not iTunes account. Sorry my bad. But read between the lines (or do u need a manual for that too).
Yes we can moan on a Facebook page but this is an apple forum. So don't be telling people yet can or can't post. This isn't North Korea or some other dictactorship operation (thank god).
