If you mean that you want to move songs to it but don't want to connect to a computer to sync, you can always sync via wi fi

Manual management should be what you want, however if you no longer have access to the library previously used for syncing then it is possible that switching the device into manual mode from a different library may result in iTunes wanting to wipe the current content. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
