Q: Mac doesn't allow "Purchase current plan" like iPad does
Just a note: I recieved the email that everyone is getting about my complimentary 20GB plan expiring. So I go to my Mac and it said that I currently have the 20GB plan and gave me no option to start paying for it. But then I went to my iPad and it talks about the complimentary plan expiring soon and gives me a "Purchase current plan" option — so I was able to successfully upgrade but only with my iPad.
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4), two 27" Thunderbolt displays

It's academic for you now, but http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5527 says:
- Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, then click the iCloud icon.
- Click the Manage button.
- Click Change Storage Plan.
- Click Downgrade Options.
- Enter your Apple ID password, then click Manage.
- Choose your current plan, then click Done.
