I have my Facebook messenger linked through iChat.  Until now I have not had any issues.  however, for some reason now my facebook friends are showing up as numbers on iChat.  I can no longer see their names.  Is anyone experiencing this?

Yes, I have the same exact issue since Tuesday night. After going on the boards we are not the only ones with this issue. Aim works perfect so my guess is it is a facebook problem but you would think it would be solved by now. No one has confirmed that it is a F/B issue or how to fix this. Hopefully someone will post answwers soon

    Hi,

iChat (Or Messages) with any Buddy List will display the Users ID (or Screen Name if AIM) as it is sent from the server.

It is the app that links to your Address Book (Contacts app in Mountain Lion) that provides the link to displaying the  person's "Real Name"

As the info in the Buddy list changes between the regular display (either the Buddy's ID or their Name from the Address Card) and the Numbers it is a server end issue.

Furthermore it is a Security Issue as presumably these numbers are something to do with people's Facebook Accounts that is not normally public.

    I don't have a Facebook account.

Is that not a Facebook forum for this sort of stuff ?

i'm also having this problem, started very recently. It seems like it's a facebook problem but a google search only takes me here!

bad timing as well as i've just ditched skype! but this problem doesn't compare ot how buggy skype is

for anyone else having this problem, a work around for the people you talk to most is to add their full jabber address (-SOMENUMBERS@chat.facebook.com for example) to your address book.

Has anyone seen any acknowledgement by Facebook that this is their problem. I have submitted a report but nothing. I haven't seen anything about this anywhere on Facebook. Very frustrating!

    Hi,

It is like two step password protection.

    1) they have to admit there is a problem.

    2) they have to admit the problem is their's.
