Q: Re: Apeture 3.4.5 upgrade problem

I have downloaded the latest version of Apeture 3.4.5 from the App Store.

When I open it I am told that my library needs to be upgraded.

I click on Upgrade and I am told

Warning

There was an error opening the database for the library "/images/Apeture Library.aplibrary"

HELP!

I am backed up via Time Machine.

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Where is the Library, is it Managed, and how much free space is available in the drive where it resides?

The library is in a folder called images on my harddrive which is a 3TB fussion drive with 2TB of free space.

It opened fine before this update.

It is a 112.7MB file with most of the images referenced to files in other folders within the folder images

Lot's of unknowns, espcially with what little I know about the Fusion drives.

Before going down the road to use one of the Repair functions, please hold down the Option key while clicking to launch Aperture, and then in the resulting dialogue choose to create a New Library, and test whether Aperture is fully functional.

Btw, why would you use Referenced Originals if not keeping them on a separate drive?  Or have you made some switch in that regard as you began using this Mac with Fusion drive?

Yes Aperture open OK when holding down the option key and creating a new library.

When switching to the old library to relaunch it quits.

In regard to Referenced Originals, they have always been that way, the images folder is backed up onto a separate external drive.

You probably should next take steps two and/or three as explained at:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

I think I would disconnect Time Machine until trying this, as you do not want to update the backup with what is not working.

Aperture 3.4.5 is up and running but it does not show any of my projects

I have restored my library to a different location (on my desktop) and when it starts to load to the desktop I am told that "The operation can not be completed because you don't have permission to access "Aperture Library"

I click OK and I am given the 100±mb file with nothing in it as opposed to the 2gb file on the backup

If you Hold Down the Option key while clicking on the Aperture to Launch, is there more than one Library to choose in the resulting dialogue?  Could it simply be that Aperture has created a New Library, and you need to now choose the former one?
