i want to sync my iphone with my contacts on my mac,
Much simpler to use iCloud.
System prefs > iCLoud.
Turn on Contacts.
On yoru iPhone. Settings > iCloud - COntacts.

thanks for the quick reply ,but see I or better the owner of the ihpone does not want to use iCloud ( he feels is information is not safe ) so he wants them synced the old way. Also one issue we are having with iCloud is that if you stop using it it deleteas the contacts , calaners etc from your device ( computer) and still keeps them floating on the cloud, there should be options where to keep your contacts either the cloud or the computer
See the issue we are having is that we are not getting the option to merge the contacts with both devicies it just says more then 5 % of your contacts need to be changed and will be deltedt on your computer ( something like that)

To save the current contact on your iPhone.
Find the contact and tap Share via Message. Send it to yourself..
Now select the iPhone on the left side of iTunes.
Click the Info tab at top.
Scroll to the bottom under Advanced.
Tick Replace information on this iPad and tick Contacts.
After it syncs, open Messages, find the message you sent to yourself, tap the Address card then Create new contact.

just letting you know it worked ( we had to do it twice as the first time nothing happned but the second time it went ok
