When you connect an external display, OS X automatically sets it as an extended display. To change it in order to mirror what you see in the main display, simply press Command and F1 keys. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5019

Aug 4, 2013 7:44 AM in response to Matta333by mende1,It depends on the OS X version you have. If you upgraded OS X, I don't recommend you to use the DVD that came with your computer to reset the password.
Open > About this Mac, and check which OS X version you have.
If it's 10.6 or older, you can use the DVD. Read "Resetting your original administrator account password" > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1274
If it's 10.7 or 10.8, try resetting the password with your Apple ID following the steps of the link above. If it doesn't work, reset the password through Terminal and Recovery > http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4101
