It appears you will need Windows runing either in BootCamp or a virtualization program

Aug 4, 2013 3:09 PM in response to Allan Eckertby Hermnsw,★HelpfulHi,
Thanks Allan, Surly Apply makes a program that can open Office.
When I bought this computer I was told you could transfer the files from office, publisher is part of that program, is it not?
I do not want to put windows on this computer, I have an other one but would like to make this the main computer to do my work on.
But thank for your reply

Aug 4, 2013 3:11 PM in response to Hermnswby Csound1,It's not Office, it's Publisher. And there are no compatible programs for OSX and there are no file converters either. To make it worse Publisher can not export to any useable format other than its own proprietary one.
Use Publisher on Windows, or abandon the files.

The free offices packages such as OpenOffice, NeoOffice don't do it either

Aug 4, 2013 3:12 PM in response to Hermnswby sberman,Publisher and Office are quite different as described here:
Microsoft Publisher - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Apple does have programs that support Microsoft Office. Pages is one prime example. (Numbers and Keynote support other aspects of Office.)
Microsoft does make Office for the Mac. But none of these progreams support Publisher.

Aug 4, 2013 3:18 PM in response to Hermnswby Csound1,Here's one possibility (I updated my search)
http://blog.zamzar.com/2008/01/25/convert-ms-publisher-files-pub-files-to-doc-pd f-odt-rtf-and-more/
This site claims to be able toconvert .pub files to other formats. I have never used it (last time I looked it did not exist) but it may be your only option. Give it a try, post back and let me know if, or how it works.

Aug 4, 2013 5:35 PM in response to Hermnswby VikingOSX,Libreoffice v4.1 will open all versions of MS Publisher since the dawn of time. It also is stated to open older AppleWorks, ClarisWorks, and MS Works (for Mac) documents too. It installs into /Applications and your local Library/Application Support folder.

Aug 4, 2013 5:41 PM in response to VikingOSXby Csound1,I have a copy of Libre Office here, and I have a sample .pub file downloaded from MS. I can not open it using Libre Office, please point me to the method you used.
But ....
I just found (in the impress module) a listing for Publisher, unfortunately it fails when opening the sample file (looks like a text only import), I will look for another file to test with.
Thanks for the lead.
Update:
It does work:
Downloaded Publisher Template, opened and re-saved in Libre Office Draw.
To the OP, download Libre Office, Viking should get the solved award.

Aug 5, 2013 2:41 PM in response to VikingOSXby Csound1,It always was, my one and only .pub file must have been corrupt, that's why I downloaded another to test. It works very well and will be very useful to the Publisher refugees.
