Aug 3, 2013 3:30 PM in response to wrb75by Ernie Stamper,Not sure what to suggest. However, I can report that I cannot replicate the problem in 3.4.5, and 10.8.4 on my MBP.

Aug 3, 2013 6:38 PM in response to wrb75by Frank Caggiano,Are you really in Full Screen mode when you try this? If so how are you minimizing Aperture while in Full Screen mode?
I never tried this until now but if I am in Full Screen mode and minimize the app by pressing command H (the only way I can see to minimize the app as the normal window controls are not shown in Full Screen mode) I have to quit Aperture because there is no wayy for me to get the app back. BAsically the window system gets very confused.
I can see why no one has run into this as it doesn't make much sense to minimize an app in Full Scrren mode but it shouldn't act the way it is.
If you could describe in detsail the steps you are taking whrn you encounter the peoblem it would be a help.

Aug 3, 2013 10:37 PM in response to wrb75by Gerald Gifford,Do you minimize by clicking the yellow button at the top left?
If so, when you click the Aperture icon on the Dock does the active application switch to Aperture, but no Aperture window opens/appears?
If the above is true, click on the word "Window" in the menu bar. The very bottom item on the drop down should be Aperture preceded by a small black diamond. Click on the word Aperture. An Aperture window should open on your desktop.

I tried ⌘H in Full Screen Mode yesterday, when I saw the question, and the only reaction of Aperture was "beep, beep". "⌘H" and "⇧⌘H" are disabled in Full Screen mode for me - they only work in normal mode. So there must be something different with our "Full Screen" modes. Are you using a second monitor, Frank? Or a single desktop? Right now, I have set up Aperture to use Desktop 2.

Aug 4, 2013 12:26 AM in response to wrb75by JOhannSnyman,My Aperture does this exact same thing. I have mine set to run in it's own space to avoid this problem. If I click the center yellow ( -) button, it minimizes. If I click on the icon, either nothing happens, or it switches back to the correct space (if I am on a different one) but it does not restore Aperture. I have to click and hold, and then select window in the menu, then select show all.
It is not a big deal, (as I said, I work around it by running in a different space, so I do not need to minimize) but it is somewhat puzzling.

Aug 4, 2013 1:39 PM in response to wrb75by wrb75,In my case described above here are screen shots of what I did and what didn't work and what I have to do to recover. I am not in full screen mode. In full screen the bottons the top left are not accessable.
I miniimized by selecting the middle button on the top left:
I am then unable to restore the screen by clicking on the the Aperture icon in the dock. I have to select the top item in the list after right clicking on the icon.

Aug 4, 2013 2:17 PM in response to wrb75by Frank Caggiano,In your first post you indicated that you were in Full Screen mode
To retun to full screen, I have to right click on the icon in the dock and select the Application at the top of the list.
as that this not the case after all I would try moving the Aperture preference file out to the desktop and see if that fixes the problem. If not then I would try making a new user on your system and seeing if the problem also happens in the new account. If it does reinstall Aperture. If it does not post back.
BTW just so there are no other confusions does this happen to any other application? That is if you minimize any other app can you bring it back from by clicking the icon in the Dock?

Aug 4, 2013 4:52 PM in response to Frank Caggianoby wrb75,No, this issue only happens with Aperture. Sorry about the full screen confusion. I meant restoring the program in normal view.

Aug 5, 2013 12:28 AM in response to wrb75by léonie,No, this issue only happens with Aperture.
And have you tried Frank Caggiano's advice to remove Aperture' preferences, since it is only Aperture, that connot restore its windows?
How to remove Preferences is described here: Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics
Delete the user preferences
You can resolve many issues by restoring Aperture back to its original settings. This will not impact your image files or your library. To reset your Aperture user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
- Quit Aperture.
- In the Finder choose Go to folder from the Go menu.
- Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field. Press the Go button.
- Remove the "com.apple.Aperture.plist" file from the Preferences folder.
Note: The locations of your Aperture libraries are stored in the preference file listed above. If you have stored your library outside the default location of ~/Pictures/Aperture Library, make a note of where the library is before deleting the Aperture preferences file. If you have more than one library, you can bring up a dialog to choose which one to load by pressing Option immediately after you open Aperture.
Log off and on again after removing the preferences - otherwise it may not have any effect in Mt. Lion.
