    hi,

there is only one image in this project.

What should they be converted to?

The audio files to AIFF at 48k. The video file to QuickTime. Exactly what you convert to depends on the exact specs if the video and audio in the MPEG-4 framework.

    Thanks,

so do you think these files in the events is what's causing the 'paste attributes' not to work?

The files in the event don't matter. Only the files in the project where you can copy and paste attributes. I'd be surprised if the files effected this.

I am converting the files and will copy everthing over to a new project. I can't think of anything else to try...

What a supprise that didn't work. I have now wasted 2 days on this.

Is there a way of exporting the project somewhere else to color grade?

Out of curiosity, how did you change the format of this media?

You could export an XML to Resolve to grade if yu don't think it's doable in the FCP Color Boards.

I used quicktime to convert the mp-4 to .mov

and an online mp3 - aiff converter.

It's working on and off. Seems more likely to work when there is a lot of background rendering going on...

I have just experienced this problem in fcpx 10.1

I edited a clip and was able to paste the settings, but when I tried to copy another set of settings from a different clip the paste feature stopped working. I went back to the first clip and attempted to copy its settings to a new clip and FCPX did work with that clip. It was only the settings in my second clip that FCPX wasn't liking.

The difference between the two clips was the Pan Mode setting in the Volume and Pan dialog box. When the Pan Mode was set to Dialog, FCPX would not allow me to copy any of the settings. When I changed it back to None, FCPX's paste settings feature was restored.

Solution for me: Set the pan mode to None, copy the settings and paste to all desired clips. Then change the Pan Mode back to my desired Dialog setting with ALL clips selected to apply the setting to all of the clips.

It is possible that there are other settings FCPX will not paste, so if you are experiencing this problem you simply need to isolate which one is causing your problem and then apply that setting manually.

    Hope that works for you.

Though you found a workaround, this looks like a bug to me.

You should post feedback about this: Final Cut Pro->Provide Final Cut Pro Feedback...

There is a definitly a bug which I can replicate with the Copy and Paste Attributes command where it doesn't work if there is an audio enhancement applied to the clip being copied - if there is then the paste attributes command will not function or work at all! With no audio enhancement modifications then the copy and past attributes works fine...

Yeah something is messed up here. I have the simplest of timelines going here. The original footage was shot on Panasonic P2 AVC50  imported as optimized media. Two simple interviews cut together. Nothing fancy going on; a clip of one int'w, a clip from the other, back and forth. The clips needed some color grading so I graded one clip and am trying to just paste the color attributes to subsequent clips from the same interview and I am getting nothing in the way of a paste attributes window. I've trashed prefs a couple of times and even reinstalled FCPX.

    Maddening.

Upon further review, I see that the one project I was trying to do color grading was--natch--the one project that would not allow pasting attributes. Other projects I am able to. In fact, I updated a project or two from FCPX 10.9 (the offending project was native to 10.1.1) and I was able to affect paste attributes on those.

    Further maddening

    Tom,

Are these the file types (MP3, MPEG-4. m4a) that should be used, or should not be used? I'm pretty sure I've used some of those without apparent problems. I don't think I optimized, but I may have. I'll check.

Is there a maximum image size that should not be exceeded?

    Thanks for your guidance.
