Dec 22, 2014 6:32 PM in response to wjostenby gharleyjr,I made the same mistake... sold my iPhone 6 Plus. No #, no device, you're screwed. I have an iMac, iPad Air & 3 Apple TVs and this was my master account. Low and behold the only two device verification's I had on the account after setting up the iPhone 6 Plus was that # (gone) and that device (gone). SO -- my account is in limbo. I always thought my recovery key was my safety net. The recovery key I was provided didn't work (Invalid). 2 support calls later and they pretty much told me it was my fault. I had security questions, I know most everything purchased on my account w/ emailed receipts. I have phone log proving I had that number. Not good enough, Apple?
Maybe someone at Apple can help? No longer being able to access my account resulting from issues and oversights with your 2-step verification system is NOT acceptable. I'm not an idiot and I'm not thrilled with being treated like one. I have 2-step authentication set up on Google, Facebook and Microsoft and went through similar recovery processes without any issues.

Apr 28, 2016 4:13 PM in response to Me0wersby WHS ict,I have the same issue.
I no longer receive SMS messages - i don't know why, as my device hasn't changed and the number it is sending to ends in the correct sequence
For one of my accounts the relevant recovery key works. For the other account, the one i use to purchase software for my servers, the associated recovery key flags as 'invalid' and i am not receiving SMSs either.
Apple tells me it is _my_ fault - even though i retain possession of my trusted device AND the recovery key, and refuse to help.
I think there must be many people with the same problem, i'm guessing a corruption of apple's own databases, and i'm up for a class action if anyone else is

Apr 28, 2016 4:15 PM in response to wjostenby WHS ict, that's irrelevant.
I can't access my account, despite having all three identifiers - password, trusted device and recovery key.
Something is screwy at apple's end, but unless they admit it, we are helpless.
