Q: Itunes match stuck at sending information to apple

Anyone else having issues tonight? Once a week the iTunes match seems to auto run the info gathering and send to apple. Normally it works fine although can be a but slow to get a response from apple sometimes. Tonight it just won't go past 'sending information to apple'. Each time I start iTunes it gathers the info to try again. Anyone else getting similar? My library has not changed in weeks so it can't be anything like that. I guess server issues at apples end?

Cheers

Wayne

Glad i found this thread, I have been tearing my hair out for the last couple of days!!!

Lost count how many times I have deleted my library, re added it, uninstalled, re installed, changed to ethernet from wireless, turned my firewall / AV off.

Let's hope it gets fixed soon.

Getting frustrating. Thought it was an ISP problem. At least I am not alone.

OK, trying this now... Will report results.

Edit - One thing that I do not understand is this - I deleted my library this morning and re added it from the music directory. I checked my iPad before leaving work and there was 'no music' on it.

At lunch there was loads of albums on there, so I assumed that it had all uploaded. Yet when I got home nothing was showing as being in the cloud.

Strange, as it still shows as nothing being in the cloud, yet I am listening to some of my music on my iPad as I type this.... :-/ eh?

Oh, the upload failed again - network connection reset error.

I wouldn't do anything drastic as to delete your music from the cloud...

I believe Apple is doing something behind the scenes... I uploaded an album this morning and iTunes Match was working. But it wasn't working last night and I'm in the U.S.

I have iTunes Match on my iPad as well.. And all my music is playing perfectly. I don't keep any music stored on my Mac just through iTunes Match in the cloud... I'll just upload all my music up to iTunes Match and I don't delete any music unless I absolutely don't want it there.

I will wait a few days and see what happens.

After two days, your suggestion worked!

    Thanks!

    i) I signed out of iTunes.

ii) Turned everything off, including the computer (not sure if this is important)

iii) Turned it all back on.

iv) Signed back to my iTunes account.

    v) Turned on iTunes Match

It goes through the process, and it works.

    Good luck, peeps!

Same here (US): for most of two days now, iTunes Match gets stuck at the end of Step 1.

In detail, this is what's happening:

The "Gathering information about your iTunes library" progress bar gets all the way to within a sliver of being 100%, and the then the text at the top of the screen reads "Sending information to Apple..." for some 10-15 minutes (haven't timed it, so that's just a guess), during which time there is absolutely no upload or download activity on my system.

When iTunes Match finally gives up, an error message pops up that reads as follows: "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection was lost. There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."

Searching forums for similar problems, I've encountered the following suggestions, NEITHER OF WHICH WORK:

    1. Turn off iTunes Match and turn it back on again (this, by the way, will mean that your whole library will need to be re-scanned again, which can occasionally cause some tagging inconsistencies and other minor but annoying problems)

    2. It's an ISP throttling issue, so either mess with your router's setting to limit upload speeds or use a program like Entonnoir to limit the upload speed of only those ports that iTunes uses

Again, neither of these solutions is working for me, and this thread makes clear that the current problem is probably on Apple's end. They had service outages yesterday (Aug. 7), and so if you're having this problem and you find this thread ca. Aug. 8, I would NOT recommend trying those "solutions" that you might come across on other (older) threads. Save yourself some pain and give it a day or two to see if Apple simply fixes it.

Apple servers... have been knocked offline somehow.

So, it's not just iTunes Match that's having the issues. Even when trying to activate iPhones.. is causing issues.

Is your iTunes Match still working?

I got an email on the 7th August saying that the 'Contracts, Tax, and Banking module' of iTunes would be down for scheduled maintenance. So obviously this is a thing. Just didn't realise it would last so long
