Q: 10.7.2 Lion Server on xServe won't mount Fibre Channel Raid

Well, I'm not sure it was *I* who got the array working... per my earlier post, It wasn't working and then a few days later it was. Without me doing anything. I've rebooted since and the array was still there. So, I think/hope I'm in the clear.

My 2430 is running FW 3.73J.03 w/ Boot Record Version 1.14A and Board Rev. 0x0.

I have a full array with the top 8 drives assigned to one RAID5 Logical Disk and the bottom 8 to another.

I assigned one LD to Ch 0 SCSI 112 LUN 0 and the other to Ch 1 SCSI 113 LUN 0.

I've no Logical Volumes configured.

All I can say is set it up that way, plug it into your server... and wait and hope. Worked for me.

Had the same issues with A16F-G2430 under OS X 10.8.4 running on an XServe 3,1. We had also just installed a new ATTO FC-82EN Fibre Host card.

The firmware for this RAID is now 3.73K.01

I can confirm this firmware update fixed the issue and I can now see the LUNs. Be patient with the firmware update, it can take several minutes.

Good news! - I can confirm that I have successfully created an XSAN volume using an A12F-G2422 running firmware 3.48.H.01 (now available in Infortrend support site) , with LUNs mapped independently to the two 4Gb ports.

I am testing running Maveriks 10.9.1 server and an Apple dual 4Gb HBA, through a Qlogic 5600 4Gb switch. No problems at post firmware update viewing the LUNs on the metadata controler with either fabric topology.

I'd actually given up on the Infor 2422 prior to updating the firmware yesterday, but as we still have 4, I will be resurecting them. The XSAN volume comprising a single 12 bay RAID configured as 1 x 2 drive Mirror, and 2 x 5 drive RAID 5 LUNS is getting 300MB/s write + 400MB/s read speeds, which I'm sure will rise considerably withthe introduction of additional chassis.

I'm now going to see if I can connect a Lion, and then Mountain Lion Client to this volume

Incidently the G2430 range has a  different RAID controller (newer architecture) and never had a compatibility problem for me after Snow Leopard using the firmware available at the time of the OS release.

So they are not completely worthless after all!

Working with A12F-G2422 I'm not able to get metadata on one channel and data on the others. I've seen most examples where the metadata/journaling is handled on its own separate array, but in this case I just have the one controller and 1 array for now.

1x2 is for Metadata & Journaling, (RAID1)

1x5 is DATA1, (RAID5)

1x5 is DATA2, (RAID5)

I can't get the LUN's to be recognized in XSAN 3 when I split them to channel 0, 1. Only works when they're both on the channels. So I just repeated the mapping to make it work like below.

Currently the I/O is 350MB/sec read, about 300MB/sec write to the SAN but from the metadata controllers I'm only seeing 130-150MB/sec r/w. Is that performance differnce right from client to metadata controller?

Could someone please give me a hand with getting the 3.48 FW. I'm about ready to throw my RAID away. Support wants a insane fee to provide me with updated firmware so I can move past Leopard when I just purchased a new power supply that broke in under 9 months so I feel pretty burned at this point. Would be nice to not have to eWaste this earlier than necessary.
