Q: Why is the Apple Mac Developer portal down, and for how long?

I cannot access the Mac Developer resources this morning.

With a company as advannced as Apple, I would expect them to be able to roll out web updates

seamlessly.

I don't like being out in the cold.

I want to download the Mavericks Beta.

In the past I have published an app to figure out how to work with iOS. Then, I have not renewed the annual fee because I did not work for this environment .. A few weeks ago I'm working on a new project that requires a new app under iOS. This project was supposed to start in August .. I want to pay the fee in order to design in the devices (the app requires an intensive use of sensors) but I can not for Apple's fault .. I've already lost nine days (these days in Italy, if there is work, there are no days off).

For me it is already a big damage. I'm losing money (much more than the fee) and if I can not start soon, I will lose the opportunity of this work.

I wrote to Apple but got no answer.

Should I give up forever to design in iOS?

"We plan to reinstate most of the remaining services this week". Well, they don't have much time left, do they.

Today they replied me a support message: Basically the solution they gave me is to "keep checking the status page". Thi is awesome. I suppose we just have to wait.

If this developer website fiasco continues until september will you guys start developing for Android instead?

    Totally serious question.

This honestly is beyond ridiculous. My boss told me I needed to have the app I've designed for our company finished several days ago. Because I didn't have a current up to date developer account I'm unable to put the app on my iPhone and iPad to test. I am supposed to go out with the boss in 30 minutes and show consumers/clients how the app runs but I cannot without having a certificate to publish the app to my phone from xCode. I am literally going to be yelled at for Apple's faults.

This better be fixed today or else my butt is on the line and will lose this job/project.

I already develop for Android but if this kept up for that long I really couldn't see myself continuing to buy overpriced hardware and paying for the privilege of developing on Apple platforms.

i attempted to program for Android yesterday but gave up in constant frustration. Does anyone have any way for me to be able to test my app on my iPhone without using a Jailbreak cause I need it finished before the end of the day and don't see apple helping me out. I just need a user generated certificate to add the app from xcode to my phone.

    Hi crashpro.

I feel for you. You don't deserve to be yelled at for Apple's mistakes.

The only solution that exists for you is to physically take someone else's Iphone that is provisioned with Apple.

Like in an article i've read, an apple developer during this hack needed a working phone... so he took his old Iphone 4 from his SON and tested his app there.

We're going primitive on this. I hope you know someone who has a provisioned phone.

sadly I don't have a provisioned phone nor do I know anyone that has one that's within contact at the moment. The best I could do is head home and scramble to find an old tossed iPhone 4 and hope a sibling doesn't mind me jailbreaking it and load the app that way.

haha I mean I do live like 10-12 minutes away from Apple's Cupertino HQ, where my friend's parents are high up at, I should march on down there and complain. If only it were that easy

What's this whole UDID thing people keep mentioning? I mean I know what it is but if someone added my UDID to their developer account would I be able to access a certificate for the app that way? Although probably safer to just wait for apple to fix the site.

You can sideload an app without a JB. Try MacBuildServer. I use it for side loading open source projects into my phone. Much easier then assigning my profile and building it.

I just got an email that all services are back up and running and I can confirm that user registration is now working. Not sure about device enrollment yet.

    about time...

To help offset this disruption, we are extending the membership of all developer teams by one month.

    Only one month...

    it's working, at  last.

Yeah well... I will wait until morning to know this isn't a dream because pinching my arm isn't helping.

But in case this ISN'T a dream. Oh wow. At last it's over....?

One Month... thanks for the slap in the face Apple.  I think I'll take my business elsewhere.
