Q: Why is the Apple Mac Developer portal down, and for how long?

I cannot access the Mac Developer resources this morning.

 

With a company as advannced as Apple, I would expect them to be able to roll out web updates

seamlessly.

 

I don't like being out in the cold.

 

I want to download the Mavericks Beta.

    From a PR point of view, I agree with you. Days with "everything is fine except a few things" (sort of) wasn't clearly soothing any of our pains, as we were hitting the "review agreement" wall. Like many here, I'm still pretty unhappy about this mess, which still affects the iTunesConnect part. Which by the way, sets the longest service outage in reccorded IT history. I'm sure the Droid guys, or worse the windoz folks (!!!), will have something to laugh about till next century.

     

    That's what I'd rather be compensated for by the way. Because there is no end in sight for those future jokes.

     

    But franckly speaking, a union ? The board of developers ?

     

    Get real.

    Because they're not developers, so they have no direct experience, and too few developers have written in to explain the problem in any concrete way. Even if the press read this whole thread, it lacks what would be required of a sound investigative piece about the downtime. A timeline of what capabilities were down for what period of time would be a good start, followed by the impact that lack of capability has had on the development and release of products.

     

    Press coverage has little value anyway. If Apple has not gotten it done sooner of their own volition, then having bad press is unlikely to have made it be done any sooner or better. Either the updates were really difficult and time-consuming, or they didn't allocate enough or qualified resources to do the job.

    I'm pretty sure this isn't the longest service outage in reccorded (sic) IT history.  Could you please provide some proof of this?

     

    I don't know about you but I couldn't care less what anybody thinks about this incident.

     

    The more Apple 'so-called' developers leave the fold, the more there is for the rest of us.

    @Michael: you're talking like a developer windows .. I think anyone who is complaining, it is only because he wants to work and earn money honestly!

     

    To return to our problem, i only know that because of this situation I'm in danger of losing a job order and a customer.

    I hardly believe anyone would leave the Apple developer program because of this.

    I had the same issue (ie even if I accepted, still I was asked to accept the agreement again).
    But as I tried to add a new version of my app, now it seems to be working.

    Just off a phone call with Apple developer support regarding the missing activation email. According to them everything should be up and runnig and working... except their internal systems! They could not help me in any way, as they could not get into their own systems. It was not possible for support to check why my activation code was not sent out. The advice a got was - can you check your spam filter?

     

    It's almost humor...

    mmm... I'm afraid we just have to bite the bullet.

     

    Those who can prove a financial loss as a result of the outage know what to do; prospects can be improved by not doing it on their own.... there are pros and cons to this.

     

    Other than that, I'm afraid, there's little else that can be done.

     

    There is a thread in the dev forum, which I gave the link, and from time to time, a DrErnie from Cupertino swings by. Just sayin'

    You really think that Apple doesn't have an outage like this covered in the contract you agreed to when you signed up?

     

    There is absolutely no legal recourse as nothing illegal has occurred.

    No lawer will ever touch any class action suit. Find a better use for your time, money and energy.
