Aug 11, 2013 6:23 PM in response to abugbitmeby PaulaBlanchard,Hi, I just installed Snoozemaster. Seems to be working okay... Except that under the snooze button, the drop-down menu options are limited to "5 minutes" and "custom". Shouldn't I be seeing a list of four or five default snooze durations options?

Aug 11, 2013 6:50 PM in response to PaulaBlanchardby abugbitme,Make sure Snoozemaster ir running then go up to the menu bar and right click on the Snoozemaster ZZZ icon, and select preferences. You can customize your snooze presets there by clicking on the + button. ALSO make sure you turn the "start at login" switch to ON!

Aug 11, 2013 7:07 PM in response to YannLBby baconwrapped,So how does Snoozemaster compare to using BusyCal, which I've found to be a satisfactory subsitute for iCal?

Aug 11, 2013 7:33 PM in response to baconwrappedby abugbitme,I don't think they compare at all. Busycal is a iCal replacement at $30. Its features look great from what I can see. Snoozemaster simply provides some ability to have control over notification snooze. For me, iCal does everthing I need. Snoozemaster at 2 bucks is worth it.

Aug 11, 2013 7:38 PM in response to abugbitmeby baconwrapped,Thanks abug... That's kind of what I assumed. I already have BusyCal, though, and have been liking it. So maybe don't need Snoozemaster. If I'd known about the latter when the issues first came up that would have been great. C'est la vie!

Aug 20, 2013 12:05 PM in response to DonSurasby Almo2001,Same problem here. I really dislike the new iCal snooze. I will have to stop using it since it's not reminding me the way I need to be reminded. I have already forgotten one important event because of it.

Sep 13, 2013 7:53 AM in response to DonSurasby rflan444,This sounds great when I'm on the Mac, however I synch my iCal to iPhone and iPad as well (via iCloud)... Does it solve the same problem in this scenario? I see there's also an app for iPhone and iPad but I can't find a reference to say that it would synch with iCloud devices as well.
-
Sep 13, 2013 9:31 AM in response to rflan444by abugbitme,The app is for OS X only. It works by editing the time in iCal to the amount of time you snooze the event for. If you snooze the event on your Mac, and are syncing iCal though iCloud, the snooze should work just fine since the new alarm time will be pushed to your other devices synced through iCloud.
The other thing is that it only works for events owned by the user, not system events like birthdays which the system gets from Contacts.

Sep 13, 2013 10:17 AM in response to abugbitmeby One13Truck,I've submitted feedback many times so I'm hoping they listen and fix this with Mavericks when it's out. It looks like it'll be really good from what I've seen but after seeing how they destroyed the fonts and look of iOS7 I'm no longer hopeful anything Apple does will be any good. And I say this as someone that has had Apple/Mac prouducts in my home since the 80's.
For now I'm living with the iCal annoyance since I don't feel I should have to pay for a 3rd party app to fix what shouldn't have been broken. Not ideal at all but I don't want to pay for anything. Very annoying. -
Oct 22, 2013 3:19 PM in response to One13Truckby polishedstaple,This issue is finally resolved in Mavericks. The snooze button allows you to pick any amount of time you want. Just click and hold the snooze button and a list of options will appear.
Thanks Apple!

Oct 23, 2013 5:52 AM in response to polishedstapleby Hawfinch,Well, not any amount of time. It's annoying there's no option to snooze between 2 hours and 1 day. The event alarms I'm most likely to want to snooze are the ones that come up late at night that I'd like to postpone till the morning, not later that same night or the next night. BusyCal still looks like the best option if you want full control over snooze durations.
Still, it's great to see this feature back in OSX.

Oct 26, 2013 8:08 PM in response to DonSurasby Firefighter Mike,Apple: PLEASE LISTEN:
Bring back the old snooze feature in iCAL! Does nobody use iCal at the Apple office? If you did you would understand how FRUSTRATING it is to click snooze every 15 minutes for a week.
Why did they not FIX this in Maverick?
Does anybody from Apple monitor this blog? I hope so. Firefighter Mike getting hot.
