Aug 12, 2013 2:07 PM in response to saxman81by sberman,First, your post above says you are running iOS 5 on an iPhone 5. Hopefully that is incorrect, as the iPhone 5 needs iOS 6. If it is correct, there is a problem ...
Next, you say "... iTunes does not automatically keep track of my recently played songs." Do you mean iTunes on your computer? Are you syncing your iPhone using iTunes and then finding the "Recently Played" playlist is not updated?

Aug 12, 2013 2:28 PM in response to sbermanby saxman81,There is no recently played playlist in itunes, yes all my software is updated. I'm using itunes 11.0.4 (4). I'm referring to itunes both on my computer and on my phone, neither is keeping track of recently played items.

Sep 14, 2016 5:42 PM in response to saxman81by Howard Brazee,Now, I can add a recently played song to a message in 10.0.1. So I played a song and went to message. That newly played song was not seen by the message app.

Add a song --- to send a song to someone? No. That would violate ownership policies. If you could do that, songs you purchased could be freely distributed to anyone - that would put the music industry out of business.

Sep 14, 2016 6:14 PM in response to sbermanby Howard Brazee,I think it only plays a song. At any rate, the new 10.0.1 IOS message has an option to select a recently played song. I was going to send it to my wife just to see what happened. I guess I can send one that is there, but I'm curious why its set of "recently played" songs didn't have my most recently played song.
Since it is part of Apple's product, I doubt very much it actually sends the song.
