Q: Keys stopped working on iMac Apple Wireless Keyboard

Right now, I'm borrowing a keyboard.

My imac's a late 2009 model with  one of the new apple wireless keyboards.
About a week or so ago, all of the sudden, some of the keys stopped working. Like one day the keyboard's working fine, and the next certain keys stopped working.

THe keys that aren's working - delete, tab, the space bar, the down arrow key. Is  there anything I can do to fix this problem, or would it be better to get a whole new keyboard?

Because I've  been looking at wireless keyboards, and Logitech has  a mac one that's solar powered and it looks nice, wouldn't have to keep shelling money out for batteries

So, I basically have tried everything except from the install disc option, which I didn't see until now for some reason.hat was mentioned

I've tried unpairing it, doing all the pram boots and everything like what's been mentioned above.

I've honestly thinking about getting the logitech soler powered keyboard for mac, since it's wireless, it's solar powered, and it doesn't need batteries. It'd be saving money in the long run

though most solar powered devices have a rechargeable battery that the panel charges

otherwise it would stop working at night

and sooner or later all rechargeable batts die

That's true, but buying let's say, an aple wireless keyboard for 70 or however much it is in Canada, and then spending extra to buy batteries? I thinkt the solar power one beats it out

This is weird.. because at exactly the same time very similar keys stopped working on my wireless keyboard for my imac which is also 2009 model!

The keys that stopped working for me are also exactly the same. tab, delete key, down arrow and space bar!

This cant be a coincidence. This is obviously a bug, or a virus or something to do with software... too much of a coincidence.. Is there anyone else who has the same problem?

I have a 2009 iMac with a similar problem, but P, O, Del, M, N, B and CAPS are not working as well.

I don't think it's a software issue in iMac, because the problem persists when I connect the wireless keybord to the iPad.

Really frustrating. Did you guys discover a solution. If I take the keyboard to an Apple Store to be replaced (no Apple Care for this iMac), how much it will cost?

I don't know if it is the same issue but I was annoyed because some keys on my wireless keyboard stopped working as well. It was mainly the backspace and the directional keys. However, after toying around with it for a while and watching the keystroke input from the "Keyboard Viewer" option, I realized that my "fn" key is getting stuck at random times and this is causing the other keys not to work. This still is a flaw in the keyboard but at least I have figured out what was making it act up. Maybe it is something similar with yours.

All of sudden, I have a same issue here with imac wireless keyboard.

delete, space, caps lock and down arrow and ' do not work.

I dont think this is hardware issue since we all have similar problem at the same time.

I dont know what to do.

    anyone?

I'm having the same issues. It's doing it to my entire keyboard. I mean the entire keyboard. I have no idea what I have to do with this thing.

Same problem here. About a week ago, my "down arrow" key stopped working. Now when I press "down arrow" I get a row of commas. All the other keys are fine.

i have the same problem with my  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5  Mid 2011 wireless keyboard. the keys that aren't working are X,W,S,TAB. am currently using the 'keyboard viewer'. it is something to do with the system preferences or just need to replace this keyboard?
