I am trying to restore my MacBook with OSX 10.5 discs. After running the disc 1 install and clicking restart it has not restarted, just frozen on a black/grey screen with the mouse cursor visible. What should I do?? Not sure whether to hold power and restart manually or just keep waiting? Been on this screen for around 10mjnutes now!

    Wait two hours.

If it still doesn't work, and you aren't backed up, look at this tip.

If it is backed up, try an erase and install.   It may just be full.

Note the age of the machine and 10.5.   October 26, 2007 10.5 was releaesd. 10.5.1 on November 15, 2007. 10.5.4 on June 30, 2008.   If your machine was new after its initial release only the retail releases posted after its release, and the prebundled MacBook discs will work to install 10.5.  You can call AppleCare to ensure you get the correct discs.
