Oh ok, I see.
Well I may have to turn it off, and try that.
I've just re-installed Java for OS X 2013-004 and nothing has changed...
According to this website if you have Java 7 installed, it should be in your Preferences:
I'm guessing I don't seems it isn't there (although I thought Java 6 had a preference option too).
I may install that too, in order to get some preferences at least.
Thanks for your time anyway.

Excellent. Thanks for the link.
Well I've just installed it. It's also now appearing in the System Preferences (still not in Apps or Util).
I guess I will just have to wait and see if I spot it again now.
It may have solved it with new default settings installed. (fingers crossed).

That's what I was afraid of... it's coming from some piece of Java 6 that was not uninstalled.
The only way I know of to uninstall it completely would be to re-install Java 6 then use the uninstaller.
Or..."live with it".

I thought about reinstalling Java 6.
I followed these instructions: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_uninstall_java.xml
to delete/uninstall Java 7 (I used the Terminal option) and then used the link at the bottom to restore to Apple Java 6 but nothing new seems to be available (and obviously no preferences) so used the command to disable it.
I will have to try and find Java 6 installs on google.
