Here’s my breakdown of your situation (to the best of my knowledge):

    • To back up, you just have to connect your iPhone to a PC/Laptop/Mac and iTunes takes an automatic backup (although it can be done manually as well). It's free and easy. Anyone can do it.

    • If you never made a backup, and still lost your iPhone text messages, you CANNOT restore back to your iPhone, as far as I know.

    • However, you CAN recover lost text messages to your PC/Laptop/MAC, and here’s an example TUTORIAL: Recover deleted text iPhone messages You can do your own research and there are some other programs that others have suggested in this thread.

    I hope that helped.

I lost my text with my classmate last night, of course i can't make backup in time, unless i know i will lost them. so how can i do to get them back...

Don't think so. A device like that doesn't usually have a "Trash" directory like a computer. Once you delete something it is marked as free space.

It's possible you could take it to a data recovery place and have them recover the messages, but that would be expensive.

Since this thread is getting a bit more activity about deleted text-message recovery now, here's a little more detail on how that works:

When text messages are deleted within the Messages app on the phone, the entry for that message is just marked as "erased". It will be overwritten with a new message at some future point, or the messages list will get cleaned up and the deleted rows will be truly removed (as a user, you have no control about when either of these happen.) Most of these tools, including the one I work on (Decipher TextMessage), work by looking through the text-message database and finding things that look like the structure of messages.

Many of the messages can be recovered this way, but not all (they get overwritten or are too garbled to recognize.) Decipher TextMessage also shows you some things that look like they could be a message, even if we can't really recognize the structure. We call those "fragments."

Good luck to you if you're trying to find deleted text messages! Feel free to send us an email if you have questions!

I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

Have you accidentally deleted them from your iPhone 5? I did the same thing a couple weeks a go. Here is the solution I found:

If you have back up your text messages, you can restore from the backup.

Look at this tutorial from Apple:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766

If you have no backup for your data on iPhone, you cannot recover your lost messages of iPhone easily,  iPhone data recovery software is your last shot! I used iPhone Data Recovery and it worked well. Give it a shot!

    Hello,

So does anyone have any solutions for restoring SMS back to iPhone since IOS 7 AND able to use it?

    Earlier attempts that failed:

    Wondershare

Diskaid(cons your money. don't buy from them)

I tried the iBackupBot and even though now I have an intact phone with all my SMS in one place, I can't send out any SMS at all. In other words, the SMS function is useless. I tried using Wondershare and the same would result.  I've heard the earlier result of using iphonebrowser to change the settings, but I haven't try it yet and would like to know if this method works or not before I go through the pains of installing and doing this and that (I've been doing this for almost a week and a half and I'm extremely exhausted mentally when dealing with this.)

Finally, my iphone is not jailbroken yet. Can ios7 be jailbroken at this time?

Hello. I haven't yet. I sort tried to use it but the last time I did it, it was taking forever to sync. Have you tried it? Did it work for you?

    Hello,

I can testify that I definitely made it in restoring some SMS I accidentally deleted from my iPhone from old iTunes back-up(s) into my iPhone.

I used a software called: BackupTrans iPhone SMS Backup And Restore

    http://www.backuptrans.com/tutorial/how-to-restore-sms-from-itunes-backup-on-mac -to-iphone.html

Free trial version has been enough, but I'm considering buying the full soft, for it really worked

Basically, this soft si capable of scannig both your phone internal memory and any iTunes back-up on your computer (a Mac, in my case). It creates a whole SMS local back-up archive for you, adding SMS from any source you scan (no duplicastes are created in the local archive though), it's pretty neat and nicely sorted actually, then you can restore any SMS conversation or message to either a local iTunes back-up or directly to your iPhone.

I did both. First I restored my lost SMS conversation to my iTunes back-up, then -since I did not want to restore the whole iPhone from that- I restored the same SMS conversation directly to my phone. It took quite some time. It works, but it's slow. Be patient. Don't think the soft is going SNAFU, it's not. Don't panic. You have to wait. Plus, after the restoring process ended, the iPhone self-hard-rebooted itself. Matter of fact, it took so long (phone progress bar during start-up also included) that it may be the software actually created a local updated/edited back-up and then restored the whole phone from that all by itself, but alas: it worked.

What if you deleted some SMS and you *don't* have any local iTunes back-up for them to be retrieved?

Well, supposedly a soft called Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS (http://www.wondershare.com/data-recovery/iphone-data-recovery.html) should be able to scan your phone for 'deleted yet not overwrited data". I tried that also (to recover some more still missing SMS), seems a good soft and all, but the process is quite invasive. I finally gave up in fear of damaging my phone. The whole process is described here:

    http://www.datas-recovery.com/static/How-to-Recover-iPhone-SMS-in-Mac-after-upgr ade-to-iOS7.html

And, if you manege to retrieve any 'deleted but not yet ereased data', you should be able to restore it in your phone witha companion software called: Wondershare MobileGo for iOS (http://www.wondershare.com/ios-manager/) should do the trick, but I havent checked with it.

As for mere SMS and *other data* back-up (not restoring) from iTunes back-up (not directly from he Phone), I also reccomend iBackupViewer - it really works, and it's free.

    Hope this help,

How to Recover Deleted Text Messages from iPhone on Mac?

Step 1: Select Your iPhone Backup File and Scan

Launch the Coolmuster Data Recovery for iPhone/iPad/iPod program which you've installed on your Mac, then it will automatically scan the latest iPhone, iPad or iPod backup file on your local disk and display one by one as below picture shows. Just choose your iPhone and hit "Start Scan" button to start scanning for files on Mac.

Step 2: Preview and Find Target Files

After the scanning, all your iPhone files will be found and divided into different catogories. Here, you can click "Messages" option in the left panel and find your deleted text messages one by one.

    Step 3: Begin to Recover

Once all things have been done, you can click "Recover" to restore deleted text messages from iPhone on Mac. Here, a pop-up window will appear to require you to set the output folder.
