Q: Aperture crashing my computer

The new version 3 of aperture has crashed my Mac Book Pro 5 times. I have had to continually rebuild my library. Is anyone else having this problem!

Aperture 3, Mac OS X (10.7.5), 8 MB of RAMJ

Sorry I didn;t get back to you on this seems to have falling through the cracks.

 

 

As Léonie wrote the crash report doesn;t show anything specific (at least at this level)  so we can try to isolate the problem.

 

There are the steps shown in Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics which are always a good place to start. I would especially be interested in what happens if you start Aperture while holding the shift key down. This causes Aperture to skip preview generation and if there is an image in the library that is corrupted this usually helps isolate it.

 

One other important point are you ealing wiht just Aperture crashes ort are there system crashes happening also? And if there are system crashes do they happen when Aperture is not being used?

 

Try the new library and new user account also these will help to isolate the problem.

    Was the problem ever solved?  Your last post was from 2 weeks ago.  I am experiencing the same problems.   I am running OSX 10.7.5 on a 2010 Macbook Pro.   Upgraded Aperture to 3.4.4. 

    One day Aperture would not open any more and had to rebuild the library.  Now Aperture crashes the whole system just about every time I use it for more than 1/2 hour.  Same grey screen that tells me to

    power down the computer.  Graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256MB.

    I've been having Aperture crash whenever I run an import from a memory card. It's incredible to me that Apple hasn't responded with a fix for this. Why else do we buy their overpriced hardware?
