Do they show up at all in Disk Utility?

No. On top not recognizing the exterior HDD's, I just traded phones from an Apple Iphone 4S to a 5 and now the 5 does not show up in Itunes either when I hook it up to download or restore my settings from the 4S to the 5.

My theory at this point is that Apple OS 10.5.8 does not recognize HTFS file systems, where the older OS version that I had did. My question now is whether there is a setting somewhere that I can use to turn on HTFS recognition or whether there might be a utility available that will install along with the operating system to enable it to recognize those drives. As to the new Iphone 5, I have no idea why it is not being recognized.

Finally got around to downloading utility and it worked like wonders. Thank you so very much for your help. I was thinking that I might have to junk my old trusty Imac, but now I think that I have a little bit of time left before I have to replace it.
As far as the Iphone 5, there is a message that comes up that says that I have to have Itunes 10.7, which unfortunately is not available for my OS 10.5.8, so on this I am not going to be able to sync.
Thank you again.

Great news, thanks Armando!
Yeah, pity on the lack of iPhone support for 10.5.8, but 10.6.8 likely won't have support either when the new OSX or new iPhones come out.
