Q: Why does music cut out with loud ambient noise......

My iPhone 5 cuts out when listening to music with headset with mic when a sharp or loud noise is heard, such as a cough or loud sharp bang. It is similiar to a CD skipping. It cuts out for a brief moment and then continues playing. It has happened since it was new and throughout all updates. Has anyone else experienced this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.3

I have had a simular problem with my ipad 2. I would love to use my ipad to play music while I am drumming but because it cuts out every 5 seconds (every time I hit the snare drum) it is impossible to use. I dont know if this could be the result of some internal piece being effected by the increase of sound waves or if the microphone is stopping the music to to wait for a command from the user. - I  don't have any help but I am experiencing the same problem.

I Have exactly the same problem. When I am playing the drums along to music on my iPhone 4S it keeps cutting whenever it there is a sharp loud sound (crash or snare). Did you ever find a solution to this?

I have the solution to this problem. This issue appears to happen when one uses headphones or earphones with a 3 channel jack. Try using a standard 2 channel audio jack. I hope this helps.

Indeed, as the reply above stated, you can connect the headphones to a jack with two channels, and connect the jack with two channels to your phone/ipad or whatever you're using. The issue will vanish!
