Q: iTunes Match Sync keeps restarting before songs are uploaded to cloud.

I've been trying for a few days to complete the iTunes Match process but every time I get to "Step 3" and my songs that are not available in iTunes start to get uploaded into the cloud, the process starts over again.  Any advice?

I am stuck on the loop as well.  As soon as step three starts, everything starts over on step one. I just got off the phone with a senior manager for itunes who, after 2.5 hours over two days, was unable to figure out a solution while email chatting with an itunes match specialist.  Their recommendation was to pull my 1734 out of 15575 songs that didn't get uploaded or matched out of itunes, put them in a folder on the desktop, and reimport in small batches to isolate the problem. Sounds like fun.  When I asked, they agreed to provide a refund if I would like.

They also suggested I connect directly to my router instead of using wireless in case the solution was not enough bandwidth.  No effect.  Looks like they haven't checked this thread.

I also have Comcast.  I will try throttling first,  and then using my phone as a hot spot.  We'll see.  Disappointing.

It worked! Thanks Phil!  I never thought I would actually see step 3 in action.

I have the comcast performance package (12MBPs with speeds up to 15MPBs) but still had to throttle at 400 kBPs with   upload speeds on step 3 that jumped to 800 kBPs when I turned Entonnoir off.  I tried 100 kBPs, but it was just too slow for 1700+ songs.

I did also have to throttle at 400 kBPs on all the ports, not just 5223.

    TCP 5223

    TCP 80

    TCP 443

    TCP 3689

    TCP 8000-8999

    TCP 42000-42999

This was not able to work for me. Anyone have any other suggestions? It keeps cycling, even when I drop the ups to 50kbs.

worked for me too - was able to squeeze 600kbps out of Comcast... little orange light appeared on the modem for UpStream when all this seemed to slow down/restart. Bad Mr Comcast...bad...

Thank you so much Phil! I just signed up for itunes match and was livid when the uploading process kept restarting. Your solution worked for me and I am very happy now. Way to represent when Apple chooses to be silent!

Un-freaking real. For 20 years I've been a loyal Mac user and I'm really beginning to lose faith in their desire to put out products that work as advertised. I'm having the same issue and don't particularly feel like finding a different ISP just because Apple and Comcast can't figure out how to work together. This has been an unresolved issue for well over a year. No one from Apple reads these posts anymore, do they?

    Come on Apple - Seriously?

This service is being offered for I believe it's circa £22 in the UK per annum. Very clever in itself as once we have started the service we repeat these payments yearly. That's a serious amount of yearly global income for Apple.

So with this much income generated by us through this service - why can Apple not get this service right for us? Why do we have to do the work and put in time and calls to use the service Apple offers and we pay for?

At no point at sign-up did it say that I may have to reorganise or expand ports or even change my ISP (to which I'm contracted!) Really - this is an essential bit of info and this should be explained before service sign up. Is this not a case the Advertising Standards Authority?

The marketing makes it sound simple. And to be fair it is, mostly:

    • It's very quick and simple to sign up to Match
    • It's very quick and simple for Match to take your money
    • It is not quick and not simple for Match do do any matching (this really should be 'uploading' of unmatched tunes)!

I have been on the restart loop now for over 24 hours - since sign up - and on the phone to apple support for about 45 mins. To be fair, they were extremely helpful and wouldn't give up and eventually gave me the above solutions - but seriously - is this really a solution: 'change your ISP'?

    Shocking!

The solution is - sort your product/service out Apple, or at the very least be honest and upfront with your marketing to avoid disappointing, annoying, frustrating and wasting the time of the very people that keep you in business - your loyal customers!

And Apple - if you do bother to read these posts - please reply to me stating how you are going to change your marketing to avoid annoying more of your loyal customers in the future and avoid breaching any ASA (or whichever governing body it is) rules and regulations in the future.

Please also tell me how I get a refund for the Match service if I cannot get out of my contract with my ISP - which I am loathed to do to be honest and could prove quite costly!

    Entonnoir solved my problem.

First, what didn't work: Waiting for Apple to post a fix or even indicate they read these posts.

What did work for my Macbook Retina with Comcast Blast 10 mbs upload speed: Get free Entonnoir app, use these settings: Port: 443, Label: TCP, 1248 kBytes / s Upload.

Thanks to everyone here for providing Apple with tech support for their product.

Has anyone filed a bug report with Apple?

I just filed one now - 14891343.  These forums are not for reporting bugs to Apple - you have to use the bug reporter form.

Haven´t tried if it works yet, but... once and if it works... do we depend on this external software patch for good?  Or once the whole library is synced we can disconnect it and all will work out well?  Just asking as a sheer ignorant.  I signed up yesterday and am ****** off bigtime.

Now it looks that it has "finally installed Itunes Match" in my Mac... but it mentions only 9K when I have 13K.

How do I know which ones are actually in the cloud?  Why would some be ineligible when they do not breach the 64k or 200MB standard?  In fact, what truly worries me, is that the "Cloud" column in Itunes is empty for ALL songs except for (a) an album, which I just converted to AAC because it was incompatible (yet it still shows as not loaded; it looks as an empty cloud), and (b) a couple of inelegible songs, which I have been unable (dunno why) to convert to AAC.  Which means I have no clue where I am standing.  What I have in my current Mac.  What will I find in my Office Mac (should I delete everything and have Itunes "download" the clouded songs... which are are shy of 5K songs?).  How about Iphone and Ipad?  I am mistified and worried.  Thanks for any truly techical detailed support. What I did just now was to update Itunes... which is still in a veeerrry long step 1 compiling my library folders.  And before that I actually tried uploading to icloud manually the only songs which actually showed a cloud in the cloud column.  Nothing happened.  Thanks to the community.  I speak both English and Spanish, so feel free to use any language.

PS, and the cloud icon right to music, in the right column, has a strange thunder in the middle.  Internet has been slow since I tried the Entonnoir patch.  I have not yet disconnected it.  Again, thanks and apologies.
