Hi all,

I have had my iPhone 4 for about a year and a half, and several months ago I started to notice the lock button wasn't working very well anymore. I have applecare, but I don't live near an apple store so I didn't want to bother with it. The phone doesn't always want to charge when I plug it in, but if I play with it, it will usually charge after a while. Again, not the biggest issue.

Then, a few weeks ago, I dropped my iPhone two feet from my lap onto a carpeted floor and the screen shattered.

I am debating my options at this point. I could buy a new phone, but I would rather repair this phone and keep it. If I take it into an apple store, will they just give me a brand new phone? I will be in MPLS next week, and could bring it into the apple store there, but I can't wait several days to get the phone replaced...Will they be able to fix it or give me a new one same-day? I am willing to pay the $49 for applecare repair, but I'm not sure how it might work since there are multiple issues to fix (which both happened before the screen shatter). But if their standard policy is to replace a cracked screen with a new phone, I guess I don't need to worry about the lock button or charge. I don't have water damage or anything like that.

Thanks for your help!!
