Aug 22, 2013 3:41 PM in response to cameronfairby cameronfair,I was working back and forth with a clip in fcp 7 and soundtrack pro. I recently switch the external that was my scratch drive. I copied all the sountrack files from the original HD to the new one. However now I only have the soundtrack pro audio files, and no original video clip. I also cannot get into my project because of this. Can anyone help?

Aug 22, 2013 4:07 PM in response to cameronfairby Shane Ross,This happens when you export a QT reference movie, that not only references clips, but render files....and then reimport it. When a project no longer needs a render file, it throws it away. If a cut no longer references it...it's gone. So if you make any changes, the render file goes away, and the QT reference that used that...no longer works, becuase a file it needs is gone.
YOu need to find that bad clip, that reference movie, and delete it.

Aug 23, 2013 7:21 AM in response to Shane Rossby Michael Grenadier,And I have seen problems where fcp some how or other keeps looking for a movie like this which has seemingly been deleted. I can't remember how I eventually solved the problem, but post back if you can't figure out a solution and I'll see what happens if I bang my head against the wall a few times.

Aug 23, 2013 10:23 AM in response to Shane Rossby cameronfair,I cant seem to find a reference file? What might it look like?
There is nothing when I search my most recent files.
And the source clip is still no where to be found.
I definitely never moved, renamed, or deleted the original file. Its just gone?

Aug 23, 2013 10:31 AM in response to cameronfairby Shane Ross,It looks like a normal clip...that's the problem.
Did you ever export a Quicktime file, and then reimport that into FCP? That's what you need to look for.

Aug 23, 2013 11:55 AM in response to cameronfairby cameronfair,I sent the clip to Sountrack Pro, and just worked back and fourth with the clip beteen FCP and STP. I never exported the clip as anything different.
I still have the audio from the clip in a stap file So its still referencing the audio from something. If i can find this clip and delete it, will my original file return?

Aug 23, 2013 12:15 PM in response to cameronfairby Shane Ross,Possibly...I've never dealt with STP on that level. Just used it to find effects or music. Sorry I can't be more help on that front.
