Q: ibook G3 A1005/2002 doesn't reckonize any os at startup

The G3 boots up on startup to a grey screen with working pinwheel and in left upper corner has small area that has these words    /etc/master .passwd: No such file or directory, this is printed ther twice and then   sh-2.05a#     .Which is a command prompt. I've tried using option key to open task manger, but any option there always brings me back to the same screen I've descripted here. This problem orginally started after i was in the pc and seen another operating os listed in the views and after doing this the pc won't use any os at all. I don't have any software for the pc, which is probably what i need, if i can't get to the os's in the pc . thks. hope someone has some ideal's on how to get this thing working again. thks

iBook, Mac OS 9.2.x, ibook is a g3/600, 16vram-tr
