Aug 8, 2013 2:20 AM in response to phellmonby jPhone7,That rule is in my Firewall already. But thanks anyhow. Good luck that it solves it for you.
Silly questions: Has anyone tried installing iTunes from scratch? I'm thinking about deleting everything and re-installing?
Newly bug is, that iTunes forgets it's windows size and opens up with a small windows only. Maybe because I sometime kill ath.exe...

Aug 10, 2013 11:55 PM in response to Phreddoby aekritzinger,Same issues here, as everyone else, wifi sync causing cpu usage....
Forgot about this but enabled wifi sync recently again and immediately the problem is back. Come on Apple, sort this out,
1. wifi sync processes killing cpu usage
2. wifi sync is hit and miss when syncing, requires constant attention

Aug 11, 2013 8:05 AM in response to Phreddoby 1900Hustler,Yeah I'm getting this too with my i5-3570k. It's showing up as 25% usage on one of my cores. Norton alerted me to it.
Pretty poor apple. It's been a couple years now and no fix?

Aug 27, 2013 12:54 AM in response to Phreddoby Alaric40,I cant belive this thread is one year old and there is no solution!
I have a pretty strong Ailienware PC and ATH.exe consumes 25-30% of the CPU at all times.
It really ***** up everything else I try to do and as otheres pointed out, syncing over WiFi is a good thing, I dont want to turn it off, but I have to because I cant even write a letter as everything I do gets delayed.
Apple should realy put someone on this and solve the problem.
I'm running iTunes 11.0.5 and no, updates have not fixed the problem.

My mobile device is connected with wireless sync and 2% CPU use after it setteled down.

Sep 3, 2013 2:07 AM in response to OCCA_Kevinby phellmon,Try and see what happens when you leave your computer on for three days or more. It seems the CPU creep is not instantaneous but accumulates over time.

Sep 3, 2013 2:09 AM in response to phellmonby phellmon,In fact, I was reporting too soon. It seemed to have fixed the problem initially, but it came back after a few days uptime. The only thing that really worked was to turn off WiFi sync. :-(

Sep 3, 2013 11:54 AM in response to Phreddoby NiceCostume,Adding my voice to this thread. Apple broke wi-fi synching with iTunes 10.7 and while the symptoms have changed somewhat, the problem persists. This outrageous consumption of CPU bandwidth is new to me. What has been consistent is that the Applemobiledevice only allows synching with my iPhone 4 and iPad 3 for a few minutes. Past that window, iTunes can't find my devices and CPU usage skyrockets.
In other words, it's been completely broken for well over a year with no fix in sight. As far as I know, Apple hasn’t even acknowledged the existence of the problem despite there being so many threads about this. I'm feeling an Android coming into my life as I contemplate replacing my iPhone 4.

Sep 17, 2013 3:57 PM in response to Phreddoby bigmunkee,Try turning off Wi-Fi Multimedia in your router. It seemed to do the trick for me. I was plagued with this problem but have been running for a week with a tame ATH.

Sep 19, 2013 7:41 AM in response to bigmunkeeby drmcclin,Sooo, at the risk of jumping the gun here:
I think the problem is fixed. Been running iOS7 and iTunes 11 for close to 24 hours, even wirelessly synced a few times, and no sign of ATH.exe or AppleMobileDevice acting up yet.
Fingers crossed... but they may have fixed the issue!

Sep 19, 2013 8:43 AM in response to drmcclinby Correzpond ,I don't discount the possibility that iOS7 and iTunes 11.1 *may* have fixed the problem, but if you were properly acquainted with the behaviour of this issue you would know that this observation in itself is quite meaningless unless your updated system has been running for at least 72 hours.

Sep 19, 2013 9:26 AM in response to Correzpondby drmcclin,I posted that in here in hopes that others would share their experiences with the new iTunes / iOS combination, and maybe discredit / reinforce the idea.
Your post, Correzpond, adds exactly nothing to the conversation.
