That is a symptom of a logic board or PSU problem,, do you have AHT, or better yet ASD for that G4, (not normally available to the public)?

I was hoping I had overlooked some simple Preferance-type step in the change-over, but beyond maybe changing the old battery next, I'll just put one screen in front of the other- fortunately I've got room. Thanks again for your reply!
