Aug 12, 2013 8:04 PM in response to RLJMediaby bigdteal,Ran into this same issue with footage shot on a Panasonic HPX170. We were shooting at 1080i24pa with two cameras. Half way through the shoot we had to stop and capture footage to my laptop to free up room on cards. Having not captured since updating to 10.0.9 I wasn't aware of the bug.
Now I have footage with no backup that looks slow motion and audio dropping out at exactly 9 second 17 frames per clip. Submitted the bug to Apple but now I'm faced with the possiblity of a reshoot.
The remaing footage from the shoot ingests just fine in Prelude CC. We tried FCPX again on a different machine but no go. Looks like we'll be editing in Premier for this project.

Aug 13, 2013 11:25 PM in response to bigdtealby RLJMedia,Hey Bigdteal.
To bad. This is a serious problem for many people who are using panasonic products and FCPX 10.0.9.
You can revover the footage if you have a place to send the p2 card and have it restored.
or
You can use FCP7 to import than bring into FCPX 10.0.9;
I wish apple fixes this.
Good Luck!

Aug 22, 2013 3:39 PM in response to RLJMediaby forbeginnerseyesonly,Well all, I just got off the phone with Apple support. If they didn't know about this problem before, they're on it now!
So sorry to hear your situation, Bigdteal. I know how you feel, as my project has been held up for a while now...

Aug 22, 2013 11:48 PM in response to forbeginnerseyesonlyby RLJMedia,Great work! I am glad we can make awareness of this serious issue. I know many people who use the HVX200 form panasonic and p2 cards. It is a shame that apple is not supporting a pro camera workflow form Panasonic for many who are creating with the system. Granted, FCPX does not support the Panasonic camera P2 solutions wihle they are making smaller shops spend more money instead of bringing solutions.

Aug 28, 2013 5:54 AM in response to RLJMediaby B'more Will,For whatever it's worth, I am having the same problem with FCP X: same camera, same set-up, same result, i.e. no audio. I spent a couple of hours on the phone with several Apple support folks last night to no avail. They essentially denied it's a problem with the software and instead suggested it was a problem with the original media (despite the fact that when I bring the footage in at 30p everything is fine). The most useful suggestion I got was to transfer the footage to ProRes or another codec that seems to be more FCPX friendly. I'm very disappointed and am now looking at an even tighter deadline on a big project. It is also very frustrating to read the experience of others in this discussion and realize that Apple has apparently done nothing to correct this issue, nor are Apple's front-line professional video support staff even aware of it.

I see this is now a time bomb waiting to happen for FCPX. They are not making a pro product however a product to make people buy new equipment. If they are not supporting P2 from Panasonic. I feel panasonic must know about this and have them ask apple what kind of testing and development is happeing.
lets have something happen soon.
I can go to FCPX 10.0.5 and import %100. When I use FCPX 10.0.7/9. Audio from P2 is cut off.
Period!

Aug 29, 2013 2:30 AM in response to RLJMediaby Tom Wolsky,This happens on import or on media that's been imported in 10.0.5 as well?
-
Aug 29, 2013 2:32 AM in response to Tom Wolskyby RLJMedia,If you use 10.0.5 their is no audio problem. That is how I noticed the newer versions from 10.0.7 - 9 had problems

Aug 29, 2013 2:35 AM in response to RLJMediaby RLJMedia,The Media is fine. If you use FCP7 it works %100 all the time on the same media. Once you got to FCPX 10.0.7 - 9 , boom! problems with audio.

Aug 29, 2013 2:40 AM in response to RLJMediaby Tom Wolsky,Just to be clear, if you bring the perfectly good 10.0.5 media into 10.0.7 or later the audio is bad? Is that right? Would it be possible to get a small piece of this to look at? Maybe you could put it o. The web somewhere? Thanks very much.

Aug 29, 2013 4:46 AM in response to Tom Wolskyby B'more Will,Thanks, RL for your previous. Tom, yes, it happens on import with the same media that can be successfully imported into FCP7. (I did not have 10.0.5) And here's another wrinkle: as the media comes in and is being rendered, you can scrub the clips and the audio is there. Once the render is complete, the audio disappears (although it still lives on in the waveforms.)
