OK, I signed up to I tunes match over the weekend, spent 72 hours pulling my hair out as itunes crashed and had me sign out, sign in, sign out, sign in, etc....but left about 1,900 songs in "Waiting State"

So heres what I did - let it run to near the end of stage 2 (checked 5905 out of 5920) then hit stop. Left if for 5 minutes and it came back as "completed - 5905 of your songs are available"

Then went to itunes, added the column "Icloud status" and organised on that column. Then went to all the duplicates, highlighted them all (some 300 +) and right clicked and selected "Add to Icloud" they disappeared instantly.

Then went to store and selected "update match"

As we speak it is now "uploading remaining songs and artwork"........ lets see if it completes, but have never got it this far before!

Just want to cast my vote in favor of a solution that worked for me after experiencing continual crashes during the upload step. Others have mentioned this.

I signed out of iTunes, turned off my wireless adapter, connected to my wireless router with a network cable, rebooted into Windows 7, unplugged my cable modem for about one minute and let it power up, signed into iTunes again, and let it chill out without other programs running. Thankfully, my remaining 500 songs uploaded, completing my iTunes Match process.

Hope this helps someone who hasn't tried this simple tech yet. Seems iTunes can be sensitive to small fluctuations in the upload stream, and maybe the cable keeps things more stable....? I had tried almost everything else that had been suggested as a fix without success, including killing certain processes, moving out problem files, etc. But this worked.

Good luck. Totally frustrating experience. But now enjoying streaming some LCD Soundsystem to my phone in bed nite nite zzzzzz

Glad to hear things are better guys...still not perfect, but better.

    You're welcome Lisamtr!

FWIW, after upgrading to iTunes 11.0.2 yesterday, I found that iTunes Match was not active.  I turned it back on and received an error about a database problem (wish I would have captured the message).  After I cleared the pop-up iTunes Match went about fully re-indexing my entire library.  It's now fine (again) however during the couple of hours that it took a lot of my cover art went missing - it appeared that they were common albums, not the special ones I had found cover art for and added.  In the end all seems to be fine though.  Phew!

I finally got mine sorted out after it was constantly crashing. I had about 1000 unmatched from a 15500 song collection.  I'm using Win8, itunes 11.0.2.26 64 bit.  I think someone else mentioned this approach earlier, but I added 'iCloud Status' to the view and sorted them by that column. Then anything saying error or waiting, I highlighted in bulk and dragged to a folder of a hard drive then deleted them from the iTunes library.  Run iTunes Match Update and given everything left is either 'matched' or 'uploaded' it should complete the process without crashing.

Next I went through the files that were in the Windows folder & removed anything large - like the whole album in one mp3 that is over an hour long. Also removed anything that I thought might be a dodgy rip e.g. unsual bit rate sizes or whatever.   In the folder view, I turned on the album details so I could sort them by album.  If I could easily find the original CD, I just re-ripped with iTunes and found they'd match or upload no problem.  But most of my CD's are in boxes and would take ages to find stuff, so what I did next is from iTunes go File, Add File to Library, (CTL-O) and navigate to the folder of files I dragged out, sorted by album name, then just added say 30 tracks initially.  iTunes would then successfully match or upload.   After doing this a few times successfully, I started doing larger slabs of files by letter e.g. anything starting with 'M'.  At the moment I only have 73 left to do so am nearly done!  When I've got everything matched, I'm going to try those large and/or dodgy ones just one file at a time or is small batches.

Nice work Carlos!  That's very similar to what I did...but I only had about 40 of 7K+ tracks that wouldn't match. Ultimately some of the "custom tracks" - ones that don't exist in the real world - never would work, but it's not a big deal.  I still have the CD's should I want to play them (and I rarely if ever do).

Congrats and thanks for the feedback.  You deserve today's thumbs up!

Thanks.  In the end it appears there were about 15 tracks causing the crashing because if I add those in now it DOES crash whilst trying to upload.  So what I do is restart iTunes, pause iTunes Match, then delete the offending track. All I need do now is find the CD for those  and re-rip with iTunes and I'm done.

I can't believe how ridiculous the work around for this has to be. iTunes Match has been out for over a year in the UK now and I originally accepted this sort of thing as teething problems but I don't understand why this still continues.

Think it's going to be a case of switching to Google or Amazon for this. At least they're free (for the most part) and aren't plagued by these sorts of issues

There are two things I did and this worked after three weeks of grief and getting stuck on stage 2.

First I copied all my videos and pics - whilst copying my pics I discovered that some files could not be copied - I assume they were corrupt. There were three pics and one video. I deleted them

Then I did a hard reboot of the phone Hold the Menu button down at the same time as the on/off button at the to of the phone and when the apple logo came on I connected the phone to the laptop and it did a complete back up in less than 5 min

    hope this works for you.

    Take care

    I had the same problem.

-I had three devices that were signed onto itunes match.

-I made sure all the devices were signed out of itunes match.

-Then i signed into itunes match on my main computer and updated the match.

    -from there it worked fine

Totally frustrated and annoyed with I Tunes Match. Does anybody know a way of manually uploading waiting songs?. I Tunes keeps running through stage 1 & 2 and then falls over. I have removed the error tracks that everybody talks about and all the ineligable trackes (all of which are I tunes purchases) but still it falls over as soon as it gets to the end of stage 2.

Looking at the comments on here going back to 2011 it seems apple clearly are not interested in resolving these issues.

    Very dissapointing.

ive tried practically all the soutions here and the only thing that worked (which i found somewhere else) is to delete "com.apple.iTunes.plist" you may have to delete it 3 times but eventually match completes and is now working.

im using windows 7 and found it here.

    C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Preferences

    close iTunes and delete "com.apple.iTunes.plist"

open iTunes wait for music match to complete if it crashes then repeat the whole process (took me three times.)

I done this on page 5 of this thread and it still working ok ever since.

I've read just about every post on this subject. None have worked for me. This Itunes Match is making me want to snap my laptop in half! I did this because I can't download the right itunes for my iphone 5 due to having an older OS. i've just hit stop and start whenever it gets stuck. I finally got it to get to step 3, but I will NEVER recommend this stupid crap to ANYONE! The only reason I am going through this is because it seemed like a better choice than getting an exteneral harddrive and putting all of my music on that then on a different computer then pray that will be able to download the right itunes version. SO ****** AT APPLE!

Sorry you're having trouble with iTunes Match.  However I'm confused by your post.  This sentence in particular:

"...I can't download the right itunes for my iphone 5 due to having an older OS"

Can you give us a few details?

FWIW iTunes Match is working fine for millions of people.  I had trouble with it early on (as did many others), but with the exception of the odd glitch now and then it works fine on all six of my iDevices.

I get the frustration you're feeling but if you want some help you'll need to elaborate rather than rant.  There are a lot of great folks here more than willing to lend a hand.

Otherwise Apple has refunded the $25 iTunes Match annual fee for others.
