Hi there,

I have recently been receiving spam texts to my iPhone 4s from an unknown gmail account.

I disabled any chat apps, and made sure my email isn't somehow connected to my messaging system.

The spam email is not recognized by my gmail account.

From viewing previous posts, it looks like I would contact my carrier (Verizon) to request a block, but this is only for phone numbers.

How do I block spam texts from an email address?

Thanks so much for your help!

there is no spam filter on the iphone. TRy filtering them in the desktop version of gmail on your computer

Sounds like an iMessage, are the messages from someone you know?

try responding "Please stop - i don't know who you are"

If they are using iMessage, which it sounds like they are, they already know it's a live # from the delivery receipt.

More than likely somone out there entered your # incorrectly and think they are chatting with someone else.   I would just simply tell them they are calling the wrong #.

in iOS7, which is due shortly, you will be able to block users in iMessage.  if you can wait...

    I have the same problem.
I have tried telling them that they have the wrong number.
They say 'sorry' but it continues.

The texts from these gmail accounts have started coming at one in the morning. I asked them to stop and exclude my number in future; not so friendly this time - and told them that they were harrassing me at that time in the morning.
They said 'sorry'. They've even shared photos with each other (and me) and seem to be youngsters.

The texts still continue. I'm at my wits' end. Gmail doesn't offer a way for me to report them.

    Any ideas anyone? TIA

We have tried every response known to (wo)man...they just can't be bothered to drop my number as they text each other a load of rubbish and exchange photos.
I'm forwarded their details to my phone provider's Spam Text service.

Update the iOS on your phone to iOS 7. You can block spam texts and iMessages directly on the phone.

I'm on IOS 7. I could only see (via Settings) to block my own contacts.

Just found a way to block them NOT via settings - without adding them to my friend list first - on IOS7, click on their names at the top of the message. Then click on the

Scroll down the list to the bottom and click on BLOCK. Repeat of each of the little critters.

The silly little monkeys had sent me photos and one of their addresses. They just insisted that I was "Spencer" playing around. I asked them what their parents would say if they knew that the kids had sent their photos and address to a complete stranger. They didn't believe me. There are none so blind that cannot see.
