Q: Turn the old MDD into a NAS
Hello everybody,
time passed by since I got my first PowerBook, 2002, earlly 2003 followed a beautiful 1.25 Dual MDD which worked fine for years and years, now it lies in a corner waiting to know its destiny and since my iTunes library (and photo archive) grows bigger and bigger I thought to reutilize it as a NAS server to stream the iTunes library through the domestic network to both other computers and to Apple TV; the point is, it is more convenient to buy a NAS case and slam 2 drives in it or a solution like my old MDD and a NAS4Free implementation could do fine on my PowerMac to suit my needs?
The idea would be to put the MDD in a storage, attach it to an UPS and to the network and intall in it a S-ATA card with a couple drives, how does it sound?
thank you
PowerMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)
