One of of 200 that have ANY wi-fi issue, and that includes quickly fixable issues like having the wrong password to their wi-fi router (i.e., that number includes confirmed user-faults that had no hardware-faults).  Not 1 out of 200 that has this specific hardware fault.

@ Sid: Don't worry about where I get my numbers.  Show me numbers that contradict mine.  Show me evidence that supports your claims.  Show me research that backs up your position.

In monitoring this thread I've seen a lot of activity suggesting its more than a few phones, but, apparently not enough to warrant action on their part. The heating approach I used is still working two months later. This definitely points to a manufacturing related issue.  I won't bore you with repeating my earlier observations/posts with  manufacturing process variations, but the combination of these variations and firmware changes could be causing the issue.

None of us have exposure to the necessary data to come to root cause.  My past experience with semiconductor issues would suggest that this data is not easily obtained as it will be obtained from IC trace codes affiliated with failed devices, contract manufacturers & their associated manufacturing runs, the IC packaging industry & it's product characterization s, & finally the specifics of the firmware update.  W/O apple taking enough of the failed phones back to get a statistical set of data they themselves will not get to root cause.

TJBUSMC1973 says "Don't worry about where I get my numbers. Show me numbers that contradict mine."

I'll help Sid here: 66.666% of all 4S devices are affected by this problem. But don't worry about where I get my numbers, TJBUSMC1973.

LOL I read the original response and almost died in a fit of laughter. I'm sorry to say you're not quite right though MarcioV, it's 66.667%. And don't ask questions - you could clearly make it out in the bowl before I pushed the button, but I didn't take a picture as it would have just been asking for an accident to happen thereby rendering my iPhone's warranty even less useful than the useless it already is.

I wasn't sure if I should count the old lady with red hair in Iowa who microwaved her phone instead of baking it (the instructions she found on the Apple forums weren't clear).  TJBUSMC1973 would cry foul if I added her device to the number, because microwaving is obviously not an acceptable way to fix a high quality overpriced iPhone.  Only gas or electric oven baking, plus freezing, are OK.  That's why I kept the number at 66.666%, Sid.

Glad to see you're back, Marcio!  I think Sid missed you.

I knew you couldn't stay away, lol!

By the way, Sid, I'm still waiting for your research to support your claims.

    Freudian slip? I don't think you've seen Marcio's back...

Yes I did miss the sound of reason. I have no intention to provide any kind of research. I've made my points pretty clear and I'm not wasting my time with someone who insists on twisted reasoning to argue points that people don't care about.

I do believe the correct spelling is 'you're' in this situation, which is what I typed.  Perhaps you need to check your eyeglass prescription, Sid?  And why would it have been a Freudian slip if I'd said I'd seen his back?  What are you implying?

But I'm glad to see that you've admitted that you "have no intention to provide any kind of research".  That means that there's nothing to support any of your arguments, except your personal opinion.  And that makes things so much easier.

Have a great day!  Thanks for being an Apple customer!

My email copy of your original post quite clearly shows otherwise! Good being quick though. As I say no point expending energy on something where I have nothing to prove!

Yes, I edited an Auto-Corrected spelling/grammatical error about ten seconds after I posted.  And seventeen minutes before you posted your comment in this thread.

Is this technology thing too much for you?

Yes. Clearly you are right. A good side effect of my clear ineptitude with technology (I have no idea what morons in this firld let me carve out a career in that field for decades) is that my beer was nice and cold right all through my enjoyment of it. You see there was no wifi where I was. Or perhaps it was my phone - who knows?
