Q: how long does migration  process take .?  My migration  box says 8  hours in the box. Is this normal?

Deleting the 2nd account will get you to the same place so don't bother.

Hi, I just got a MacBook Pro and am transferring all my data via FireWire 800 cable from my old iMac to the new laptop. It said it would take around 100 hours. And it's turning out to be true because its been 24 since the start and it's down to 86. Is this normal? Is there anything I could do to speed it up? I'm transferring about 350gb.

It can take a long time and the estimates are just estimates, often wrong. Be patient and don't interrupt the process

Abort it, it is likely that some or all has been transferred so check what you have after aborting.
