I want to make absolutely sure I order the right upgrade..
So when I go to "About this Mac" on my iMac it says:
Mac OS X Version 10.5.8
Processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Startup Disk ; iMac Drive
Under "Further Info" it says"
Model Name iMac
Model Identifier iMac8,1
Processor Name Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed 2.66 GHz
Number of Processors 1
Total number of Cores 2
L2 Cache: 6 MB
Memory 2 GB
Bus SPEED 1.07 GHz
Are you suggesting I need to purchase OS X Mountain Lion, install then perform an update?
If so can I purchase and download OS X Mountain Lion online or does Apple need to send me the disk?
Sorry for the 2nd guessing but I wanted to be sure of my path forward.

1. You need to purchase and install Snow Leopard before you can get Mountain Lion.
2. Mountain Lion is a download. Snow Leopard is only available on a DVD.
