A = First user account created on the new machine (Admin)
B = User account migrated over (account status unknown)
1: Log into A and make sure B is a Admin user in System Preferences > Accounts
2: While in A, transfer files via the Users/Shared folder
Programs usually are installed into the Applications folder for all accounts to use, but some have particular settings saved into each user account.
Best thing is to just use the program again and make new settings which get saved in User B.
Once you have everything up on A, then delete B from the System Preferences > Accounts.
Optional: for more security,
it's best to create a new Admim user while logged into A, lets call it C, and then logging into C and changing A to Standard user from Admin, then using A all the time like normal.
It's a little more work involved using the computer when your accessing the Applicaitons folder (rarely), and having to manually check for updates, but your computer is much more secure as A is now a Standard User with little "powers" so in case something bad happens it can't do much to your computer (unless you give it your Admin password of course.)

Thanks so much for getting back to me. So hours and hours later I though BINGO! I've done it! All files, photos and music transferred over. Deleted the second user account, my files and photos are still there but the entire content of my itunes has disappeared! No where to be seen!! (I am a complete apple novice, so may well be somewhere to be seen) There's about 16GB of music somewhere! Any suggestions on whre/how I can find it?
My itunes account is still signed in (on both computers)
At the time when it imported all the content was there but the playlists were missing, I'd even gone in and done those from scratch again. Going ever so slightly mad! Would really appreciate any tips at all,
thank you in advance!

I hope you can help me with a slight twist on this. I have a macbook (source computer) and a new Air (target). I used migration assistant and now have two admin accounts: myname, and myname1. I cannot live with two profiles. I do not know which is the master profile, they both seem to have the same document files. I just made the transfer so one is totally redundant. I hope that both have all my settings etc... so that I can delete one and that is it. If so then I would delate myname1 in favour of myname. If myname1 is the master file that migration assistant sets up then I will delete myname and rename myname1. Does this make sense? How do I know which is the user account that migration assistant created?

Sorry about this but I cannot find a forum and I don't know how to create a new one. I will have to call Apple Support. I had hoped I could just piggy back on this discussion regardless of age, the question is similar
