It sounds like you're experiencing some unusual behavior with your iPod nano. I'd suggest some of the troubleshooting steps in this article:

The headphones don't work
...If the issue appears to be with the iPod, try resetting it. If that doesn't work, then restore iPod with the latest iPod software using iTunes...

Sep 9, 2013 5:06 PM in response to jeremy_vby Bricky66,I have tried resetting the ipod, restoring the ipod. The ipod works fine until the screen goes off, sound cuts out instantly. I have no clue why it would do it except a power issue. I enjoyed the ipod until it started doing this.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Any others before i inquiry about taking it in for service, and does anyone know how much to fix an ipod nano 6th generation.
