Dec 31, 2012 11:05 AM in response to ApMaXby feival,Thanks to both of you for that. On a connected but slightly off topic, I think I once read that it is possible to get an iPad to read the contents of a 2.5" portable unpowered hard drive. Is that true?

May 3, 2013 8:15 AM in response to Fuzzy_Chinchillaby dab7418,Thanks, Fuzzy. I've been looking for a solution to this problem for a long time. I'll give your suggestion a try. It sounds like an improvement over the iPhone app.

May 3, 2013 11:08 AM in response to dab7418by Fuzzy_Chinchilla,Sure thing Dab. I'm with everyone else. The Apple Remote is dumb. The Satachi remote trick worked perfectly for forwarding and backing up the slides via Keynote.
The only thing is, you need to make sure to not hit any other buttons on the remote or this will trigger siri into talking outloud about all the button fuctions.
So just make sure your remote is all set up BEFORE the presentation starts.
Good luck guys, hope this info find you well.

Sep 5, 2013 9:48 AM in response to Bill in Palo Altoby AirTurn,Shameless plug here (please be gentle when ganging up on me...I have a tender back!) AirTurn now has a tiny wireless Bluetooth remote that can advance slides in Keynote for iPad in VoiceOver mode called the DIGIT II. You can learn more about it at www.AirTurn.com/Digit2
In addition to controlling Keynote slides forwards and backwards, you can also control iTunes on all iOS devices and computers, as well as control iOS cameras for photos and video, and control a wide range of apps from PDF readers to Teleprompting apps. The DIGIT II also works great with iBooks and the Kindle for iPad apps (again, in VoiceOver mode)
The DIGIT II will start shipping on Monday, Sept. 9, and is available now for pre-order at http://store.airturn.com/digit-ii/

Sep 5, 2013 9:54 AM in response to AirTurnby AirTurn,Oh, by the way, the DIGIT II has a button for silencing the voice in VoiceOver mode, so once you're set up with starting your presentation, you can make sure that annoying voice stays quiet

Mar 11, 2014 9:17 PM in response to AirTurnby Michael Paine,Hidden AirPlay feature in the AppleTV 6.1 (iOS 7.1) update
http://www.afp548.com/2014/03/10/hidden-airplay-feature-in-the-appletv-6-1-ios-7 -1-update/
"In addition to bonjour negotiation for AirPlay, iOS 7.1 devices will also look for AirPlay sources over bluetooth when doing it’s scan!"
Although this does not address the original problem stated in this thread it does offer an alternative solution for giving presentations. I have found that Keynote on my iPad works well with an Apple TV and Airplay but, up until now, the iPad must be on the same wifi network. This can be a problem for some locations. There are reports that the bluetooth feature only works with the latest iPads - it will be a few days before I can try it on my system.
I expect that the limited range of bluetooth will be an issue for some presenters.

Apr 23, 2014 4:47 AM in response to Techno-Nutby docmacapp,The Easiest solution to this is to download i-clickr remort powerpont from itune store on your ipad/ iphone and mac and then use application for changing and managing your presentation on ipad while it is bening displayed by LCD projector using your mac book. It also supports windows too.
Visit: www.senstic.com for more information and products. I have used it and it works well.

Apr 23, 2014 6:28 AM in response to docmacappby gilesfromwimborne,Nice try docmacapp.
What drives me nuts about this thread (which has been running for years) is that the problem was resolved after Satechi brought out there beautiful bluetooth clicker. It worked extremely well. Your solution with i-clicker is no different than using you iPhone with the Keynote Remote app, the trouble is I don't want a bulky phone in my hand which is lit up and a distraction to the audience. When Apple introduced the child like IOS 7 with the Keynote update, the Satechi clicker no longer works. My work around has been to keep the older version of keynote on the Ipad. As is always the case, requests to Apple are never replied to. HOW HARD CAN IT BE TO GET THIS RIGHT?????
